We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sheet Metal Worker/Shop Hand to join our fabrication team. The ideal candidate will have experience in sheet metal fabrication, installation, and general shop duties. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in fabricating, forming, and assembling sheet metal parts using tools such as shears, press brakes, and rollers.
Read and follow basic blueprints, work orders, or verbal instructions to produce parts to specifications.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery (e.g., grinders, drills, saws) for cutting, shaping, and finishing metal.
Support machine operators by preparing materials, setting up workstations, and loading/unloading sheet metal.
Perform basic quality checks using measuring tools (e.g., tape measures, calipers) to ensure parts meet standards.
Maintain a clean and organized shop, including sweeping, disposing of scrap, and storing materials properly.
Assist with inventory management, including receiving and organizing raw materials.
Adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Collaborate with team members, including fabricators, welders, and supervisors, to ensure smooth workflow.
Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; training in sheet metal work or manufacturing is a plus.
1-2 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, manufacturing, or a related hands-on role (entry-level candidates with strong work ethic encouraged to apply).
Basic knowledge of sheet metal materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and fabrication processes.
Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
Ability to read and understand work orders, basic blueprints, or technical instructions.
Physical ability to lift [Insert weight, e.g., 50 lbs], stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Team player with good communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with press brakes, shears, or other sheet metal machinery.
Basic welding or grinding experience.
Forklift operation or material handling experience (certification a plus).
