ECO364H1F - International Trade Theory (Section LEC0101)

Course Description:

An examination of the causes and consequences of international trade. The first half develops traditional models of comparative advantage. The second half examines more recent theoretical and empirical work on trade & wages, the political economy of trade, outsourcing, and firm heterogeneity.

Estimated course enrolment: 100

Estimated TA support: 140 hours (contingent upon enrolment and funding)

Class Schedule Class Schedule: Tuesday 10:00-13:00 and Thursday 10:00-13:00

The delivery method for this course is currently online synchronous with in-person assessments. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

Minimum qualifications:

• PhD in Economics
• Prior experience teaching this course (or a similar course) at the university level
• Ability and experience teaching large classes

Preferred qualifications:

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching over four or more years
• Experience with remote or online teaching

Description of duties:

• Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course
• Supervision of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course
• Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations
• Providing scheduled office hours for academic counseling of students
