Senior Social Media and Online Engagement Specialist



What you will do:

  • Working closely with the Senior Manager, Communications, develop and implement overall social media and online engagement strategy for OTIP's social media channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Reviews etc.
  • Provide strategic oversight as well as create, curate, manage and/or approve all content (photos, videos and text) for posting to OGC's social media platforms, including live events and announcements
  • Manage social media budget, identifying and executing on appropriate opportunities for paid promotion on social media.
  • Identify and engage social influencers important to OTIP's areas of focus and identify trending topics in real time to connect OTIP's experts. From this work, develop weekly Social Media Hot Topics, with distribution to key leadership, as well as OTIP partners and stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with OGC's online audiences - provincial and local teaching unions, clients, members of the education community, school boards, government, and other stakeholders and partners - through conversation and active listening
  • Accountable for key performance indicators; responsible for setting, gathering and analyzing metrics; provide reporting and recommendations for social media activities
  • Management of key data points as it relates to social media, working with the member experience team to ensure integration of this data with other organization-wide customer feedback.
  • Working closely with the Senior Manager, Communications, to develop and manage OTIP's social media materials such as guidelines, policies, new hire training and scripted responses.
  • Provide online customer support by mitigating and where possible resolving member escalations. Where required, liaise with appropriate business units
  • Provide advice and consultation to the Marketing team other business areas on social media and online best practices
Qualifications

What you will bring:
  • University degree or college diploma, preferably in communications, marketing, new media or public relations, or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years of professional experience in social media and online activities as a regular contributor
  • Prior experience with social monitoring tools/dashboards. Experience working with Sprout Social is considered an asset.
  • Candidate must have the ability to travel and work nights or weekends occasionally as required by OTIP activities.
  • Working knowledge of social media publishing and listening tools.
  • Experience with paid social media advertising (e.g. Facebook,Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.)
  • Familiar with live broadcasting (like Periscope, Facebook Live, etc.) and capturing live content including interviews.
  • Experience working with Canva, Adobe Photoshop or other design software.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment and ability to identify trends and take quick action to position OTIP on areas of programmatic interest.
  • Previous experience with or an understanding of organized labour groups and politically sensitive environments is considered an asset
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including OGC senior leaders and managers, members, key stakeholders and other partners
  • Good multitasking and organizational ability.
  • French considered an asset.
