Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic and resourceful recruitment professional to join our team in the temporary role of Senior Recruiter in our Whitby location for 24 months.

Reporting to the Senior Manager Recruitment, the Senior Recruiter is responsible for partnering with the business to understand talent requirements, provide advice, explore and recommend innovative talent acquisition approaches. The Senior Recruiter delivers outstanding end-to-end recruitment services by driving the full-cycle recruitment process through preparing job postings, candidate sourcing, screening applications, participating in interviews, conducting references/background checks, and extending offers to candidates.

Key Accountabilities

  • Full lifecycle recruitment, from position identification, job specifications, and sourcing strategies to candidates recommendations and offer negotiations.
  • Proactively assessing attrition, recruitment, and market trends; analyzing metrics to drive continued process and quality improvement.
  • Developing and refining innovative hiring practices and strategies that support inclusion and belonging reflective of the communities we serve.
  • Developing and leading innovative outreach (locally and internationally) and sourcing events to drive awareness of OPG career opportunities.
  • Develop training tools and reference materials to assist the Recruitment team and clients in securing top talent in a way that supports a culture of belonging and inclusion.
  • Execute recruitment branding and social media strategy.
  • Establish recruiting requirements by understanding organizational plans and objectives, and consulting with hiring managers to develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Provide advice and guidance to hiring managers throughout the selection process including criteria to be used for selection, interview techniques, and areas of priority and focus.
  • Make recommendations to hiring managers on total compensation package based on market intelligence, recruitment, and talent expertise and OPG Total Rewards programs.
  • Develop communications and content including reports, PowerPoint presentations and briefing notes for diverse audiences, including the public and senior leaders.
  • Manage relationships with various vendors and recruitment partners to identify and develop diverse talent pipeline to respond to various operational needs.
  • Build applicant sources and attract candidates by creatively conducting research and/or utilizing a multitude of resources and develop an ongoing and diverse pipeline.
  • Identify and implement sourcing strategies for both passive and active talent.
  • Mentor junior recruitment and staffing team to ensure recruitment projects translate effectively into the business.
  • Provide work direction and task assignments to junior recruitment and staffing team members to facilitate delivery of recruitment campaigns.
  • In event of labour disruptions or work stoppages, the Senior Recruiter shall devise and execute non-regular recruitment tactics for the purposes of business continuity.
Education
  • 4-year university degree.
  • CHRL, or equivalent HR designation or are working towards this credential is preferred
Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced talent attraction professional with the following:
  • 8+ years of Recruitment experience.
  • Recent human resources experience, specializing in complex high volume recruitment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply best practices, applicable legislation, policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Ability to generate external talent pipelines; proactively source for high-quality candidates and maintain relationships with talent for future opportunities.
  • Strong understanding and ability to recruit for all levels of the organization from entry level to senior leadership roles.
  • Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of compensation models and practices.
  • Proven ability to articulate the value proposition of an employer in a meaningful and compelling manner.
  • Previous experience using LinkedIn Recruiter tool and other online sourcing tools.
  • Experience and passive or direct sourcing of candidates.
  • Established ability to develop and build relationships quickly and demonstrate a sense of urgency and commitment to provide the highest level of service possible.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, communication skills and team-based project experience.
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office and in-depth knowledge of data mining and internet research and ATS systems.
  • Experience with SuccessFactors is an asset.
