Operations Support Systems (OSS) is the department dedicated to key applications that enable our technology teams to actively plan, deploy & operate our networks. As a senior network specialist in OSS, you will maintain and extend our EMS systems and infrastructure tools in a dynamic environment.

What You Will be Doing

  • You will lead projects for the ongoing development and improvement of our infrastructure, middleware, and EMS systems. You will also collaborate with other teams to provide your expert insight on infrastructure design when working through software application solutions.
  • With your outstanding communication skills, you will work with our partner organizations as a support role for our EMS platforms including Ericsson ENM, Nokia NFM, and Ciena MCP for software upgrades, backups, user acceptance testing, and troubleshooting.
  • This role also includes a system integration side where you will effectively install and manage application servers. You will also support and maintain our virtual infrastructure and support operating system and application configurations at a backup support level.
  • Lastly, you will develop long term strategies for the future of our systems by analyzing tools reaching end of service life, performing capacity planning, and budgeting our needs for system upgrades.

  • You have strong written and communications skills. In addition to being an asset to your team, you respect all ideas from your team to strive towards a common goal. As a creative problem solver, you are ready to approach every challenge quickly and efficiently to meet the needs of the business.
Some of your technical skills include:
  • A degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in a Telecommunications environment
  • Expert knowledge of UNIX Sys Admin Level 3, as well as Linux Systems and Windows Servers Systems
  • Industry experience with OSS EMS platforms (Ericsson ENM, ENIQ, Nokia NFM-T, Ciena MCP)
  • Telecom Security concepts and best practices
  • Experience in managing Citrix Virtualization environment
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure including Openstack, VMWare, Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of relational databases
  • Knowledge of application and web server technologies
  • Proficient in scripting languages (bash, python, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of project management and change management processes
