The Senior Manager, Credit Risk is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of a designated commercial portfolio of loans at an acceptable level of risk, by exercising sound credit judgment in approving and recommending applications, monitoring credit quality, conditions, and collection activity, thereby ensuring loan losses are minimized.

Accountabilities: * Ensure credit applications are adjudicated promptly, within the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk selection parameters.

  • Ensure sound and timely credit decisions conforming to Bank policies and procedures by:
  • Exercising sound credit judgment in approving and declining credit applications within established limits;
  • Presenting sound and effective recommendations on credit requests above established limits, ensuring credit applications are properly, accurately and completely investigated, analyzed and documented in relation to Bank policies and procedures;
  • Maintaining a current awareness of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s loan policies, economic and business trends.
  • Oversees an assigned portfolio, monitors unsatisfactory trends in risk ratings, credit conditions, overdue reporting, annual reviews etc., and initiates corrective action.
  • Contribute to the development of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s commercial human resources by identifying training/coaching needs.
  • Provides coaching, direction and guidance to Banking and Business Service Centre staff concerning credit applications when required.
  • Restructures credit requests as necessary to make bankable deals in line with Bank policy and guidelines. Negotiates with CRM\xe2\x80\x99s and Team leads to ensure credit terms and conditions are appropriate to ensure sound risk selection and that client needs are met.
  • Liaise with business partners in Commercial and other business lines (as needed) to maintain open communication to ensure Scotia service levels are provided to internal customers.
  • Participates in various projects to ensure better efficiencies and uniformity/transparency to existing processes and procedures
  • Manages and provides coaching to ensure effective development to Credit Managers, providing sign off within designated limits and acting as the first point of escalation.
Requirements:
  • University education with a degree in business. Successful completion of a CPA, CFA or MBA is an asset.
  • Bilingual (French/English) verbal and written is required for the role
  • Expert understanding of Bank lending policies and procedures, financial analysis, risk assessment techniques, credit structuring, collateral and security documentation and registration, collection, related legislation and accounting practices;
  • Good understanding of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s operating policies and procedures;
  • Proven credit judgment;
  • Proven ability in administering a Commercial credit portfolio;
  • Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills;
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in order to produce informative, concise and professional credit replies, presentations and correspondence;
  • Strong coaching and counseling skills in credit;

Fonctions sp\xc3\xa9cifiques: * Assurer une \xc3\xa9valuation rapide des demandes de pr\xc3\xaat en respectant les param\xc3\xa8tres de s\xc3\xa9lection des risques de la Banque.
  • Prendre des d\xc3\xa9cisions de cr\xc3\xa9dit justes, rapides et conformes aux politiques et proc\xc3\xa9dures de la Banque, et pour ce faire :
  • Faire preuve de discernement lors de l\xe2\x80\x99approbation ou du refus des demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit qui respectent les limites \xc3\xa9tablies.
  • Formuler des recommandations au sujet des demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit qui d\xc3\xa9passent les limites \xc3\xa9tablies.
  • Veiller \xc3\xa0 ce que les demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit soient d\xc3\xbbment et correctement \xc3\xa9tudi\xc3\xa9es, analys\xc3\xa9es et consignees conform\xc3\xa9ment aux politiques et aux proc\xc3\xa9dures de la Banque.
  • Avoir des connaissances \xc3\xa0 jour des politiques de la Banque en mati\xc3\xa8re de pr\xc3\xaat ainsi que des tendances \xc3\xa9conomiques et commerciales.
  • G\xc3\xa9rer un portefeuille assign\xc3\xa9, surveiller les tendances insatisfaisantes des cotes de risque, les conditions de cr\xc3\xa9dit, les rapports en retard, les r\xc3\xa9visions annuelles, notamment, et prendre des mesures correctives.
  • Contribuer au perfectionnement des employ\xc3\xa9s des Services aux entreprises en relevant les besoins en mati\xc3\xa8re de formation et de coaching.
  • Offrir du coaching et des conseils aux employ\xc3\xa9s des Services aux entreprises et des Centres de services aux entreprises en ce qui a trait aux demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit, le cas \xc3\xa9ch\xc3\xa9ant.
  • Restructurer les demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit au besoin afin qu\xe2\x80\x99elles se pr\xc3\xa9sentent comme des propositions rentables qui cadrent avec la politique et les lignes directrices de la Banque. N\xc3\xa9gocier avec les Directeurs, Relations d\xe2\x80\x99affaires et les Chefs d\xe2\x80\x99\xc3\xa9quipe pour s\xe2\x80\x99assurer que les modalit\xc3\xa9s de cr\xc3\xa9dit sont appropri\xc3\xa9es, que la s\xc3\xa9lection des risques est judicieuse et que les besoins des clients sont satisfaits.
  • Collaborer avec les partenaires d\xe2\x80\x99affaire des Services aux entreprises et autres lignes d\xe2\x80\x99affaires (au besoin) afin de maintenir une communication ouverte et de s\xe2\x80\x99assurer que les niveaux de service de la Banque sont offerts aux clients internes.
  • Participer \xc3\xa0 divers projets pour am\xc3\xa9liorer l\xe2\x80\x99efficacit\xc3\xa9, l\xe2\x80\x99uniformit\xc3\xa9 et la transparence des processus et des proc\xc3\xa9dures existantes.
  • Diriger et offrir du coaching aux directeurs, Cr\xc3\xa9dit pour assurer l\xe2\x80\x99efficacit\xc3\xa9 de leur perfectionnement en donnant son approbation dans les limites autoris\xc3\xa9es et en agissant comme premier contact \xc3\xa0 qui s\xe2\x80\x99adresser en cas de recours hi\xc3\xa9rarchique.
Complexit\xc3\xa9 et port\xc3\xa9e du poste:
  • Formation universitaire avec un dipl\xc3\xb4me en administration des affaires. La r\xc3\xa9ussite d\'un CPA, CFA ou MBA est un atout.
  • Ma\xc3\xaetrise du fran\xc3\xa7ais et de l\xe2\x80\x99anglais, \xc3\xa0 l\xe2\x80\x99oral et \xc3\xa0 l\xe2\x80\x99\xc3\xa9crit.

  • Bonne compr\xc3\xa9hension des politiques et des processus de la Banque en mati\xc3\xa8re d\'exploitation.
  • Jugement \xc3\xa9prouv\xc3\xa9 en mati\xc3\xa8re de cr\xc3\xa9dit.
  • Capacit\xc3\xa9 confirm\xc3\xa9e \xc3\xa0 g\xc3\xa9rer un portefeuille de cr\xc3\xa9dit commercial.
  • Solides aptitudes pour la n\xc3\xa9gociation et la r\xc3\xa9solution de probl\xc3\xa8mes.
  • Solides comp\xc3\xa9tences en communication \xc3\xa9crite et orale afin de cr\xc3\xa9er des pr\xc3\xa9sentations et de r\xc3\xa9diger des lettres et des r\xc3\xa9ponses aux demandes de cr\xc3\xa9dit qui soient \xc3\xa0 la fois informatives, concises et professionnelles.
