Oceanex is looking for an experienced Senior Manager, Risk & Claims for our St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office. Reporting to the Vice-President, Operations, he / she will manage the corporate risk management program; manage and control all processes related to claims. Identify and implement loss prevention measures all within an environment of good customer relation. Tasks and responsibilities
- Ensure all claims are processed according to all legal and technical procedures including those provided for in the CTWB.
- Ensure that all associated risks are identified and are incorporated into best business practices.
- Investigate circumstances surrounding claims to determine their validity and the claimants efforts to mitigate losses and to perform inspections at customers\' premises or the accident site, when necessary.
- Ensure that claims losses are minimized by obtaining the best possible salvage value for damaged goods, or by way of recovery from other parties deemed responsible.
- Continual review of OS&D incident/claim files to identify problem areas or trends which require immediate attention; create processes and efficiencies to manage the problem areas and gaps in handling.
- Design, analyze and examine statistical reports, identify specific areas of concern, discuss findings with management and recommend preventive measures to assist in the reduction of the company\'s claims costs; resolve work related problems and prepare and submit progress reports.
- Prepare all correspondence related to settlements and/or denial of claims, maintain all files for ongoing and paid claims to ensure effective follow-up to customer inquiries.
- Provide direct supervision to the Claims Coordinator, ensure all KPIs are met, and tasks completed.
- Collaborate with internal/external resources as required (including advice from legal, insurance and accounting sources).
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post secondary diploma in a relevant field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Minimum of 5 years of Operational risk management experience. Other combinations of experience in risk management, claims management, compliance, auditing, and control development may be considered.
- A CRM designation strongly recommended.
- Strong knowledge of insurance coverages; experience with waybills, Marine Law or Transportation Law and Regulations will be an asset.
- Experience with reading, understanding, and applying contracts.
- Computer literate.
- Experience with claims associated legal process.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in the transportation field (an asset).
