Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead compliance of Scotiabank\'s Operational Risk Management Framework for all Wealth Management (WM) businesses
  • Lead the development, implementation, and documentation of the overall operational risk framework for WM business lines
  • Proactively identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor operational risks, while providing key oversight functions including Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSAs, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), New Initiative Risk Assessment (NIRA), Operational loss reporting and Scenario analysis
  • Lead compliance to Scotiabank\'s Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) Policy for WM business lines
  • Work closely with WM business lines to proactively identity, assess, mitigate, and monitor outsourcing risks while providing key oversight functions and program assurance
  • Assist in the implementation of the TPRM program for WM
  • Participate in the TRPM re-design and project implementation organized by Scotiabank
  • Provide advice and counsel to the relevant business units
  • Assist Regulatory Operations and Controls in monitoring applicable regulations as required, ensuring timely compliance with new regulations
  • Support the development and implementation of FATCA/CRS/QI Operating Procedures, governance, and oversight model
  • Facilitate the remediation and resolution of any identified gaps with the business and implement applicable controls
  • Assess and determine critical business services, current resilience capabilities, dependencies and maturity levels and constraints
  • Create scenarios to evaluate which services are at risk and develop mitigation plans
  • Adhere to the Enterprise Operational Resilience program by developing Global Wealth Management internal controls governance model
  • Lead the program to ensure WM is compliant with Scotiabank\'s Enterprise Fraud Risk Program
  • Be responsible for Business Line Fraud KRI reporting
  • Conduct Op Risk RCSA & Scenario Analysis incorporating fraud risks
  • Facilitate NIRA fraud assessments
  • Report Op Risk Events and escalations for fraud events to management
The Must Haves:
  • University degree with a Major in either Finance, Commerce, Business Administration or Law
  • Master\'s degree is an asset
  • Seven plus years\' experience in either an Internal Controls, Operational Risk, Compliance, or Internal Audit function
  • Previous experience in a leadership and people management role
  • Strong understanding of wealth management businesses, including products, services, operations, systems, and practices
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and policies & procedures impacting wealth management businesses
  • Professional designations/certifications are an asset including CPA, CFA, CSC.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft package including Excel, Word, Power Point
