This position is a leadership role in Corporate Finance, and partners with a wide range of business partners and groups across OMERS to deliver high quality analysis and financial communications. Primarily the role involves partnering with groups across OMERS to deliver consolidated quarterly forecasts and annual operating plans for the OMERS Pension Plan; preparing financial analysis and communications to the CFO, Audit and Actuarial Committee of the OMERS Board; and other time sensitive ad hoc analysis and projects for the Finance leadership team.

As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:

  • Lead the OMERS annual operating plan process, acting as project manager and key point of contact for the Business Units, providing overall strategic guidance, ensuring all budgets are reasonable, comprehensive and completed on time. Prepare a consolidated Operating Plan for the OMERS Executive Leadership Team and its Board and Committees
  • Oversee the consolidation of forecast and actual financial information received from OMERS business units on a quarterly basis
  • Developing a deep understanding of key business drivers and effectively communicate to key stakeholders, including OMERS Executive Leadership Team and the Board through regular reporting and ad-hoc deliverables
  • Coordinating deliverables and preparing written analysis dependent on many business partners including risk, actuarial, Corporate and Investment FP&A teams for the CFO and Committees of the Board
  • Review a variety of management reports including reports and/or graphs to support Board subcommittee presentations, trend analysis, financial analysis & modeling to OMERS Senior Management. This also includes creating specialty reports using a variety of industry research, data sources and analytical tools
  • Analyzes expense data for investment programs pertaining to short and long-term forecasts. This includes performing a review function of expenses recorded to ensure they are accurate, properly accounted for and authorized, and adhere to policy guidelines
  • Coordinate the quarterly and annual reporting process with other employees in Financial Services and business units
  • Complete sensitive assignments at the direction of the Vice-President or Senior Vice-President within tight time frames and minimal supervision
  • Participate in special projects as required
To succeed in this role, you have:
  • Minimum 8 years of related working experience in progressively responsible positions
  • University degree plus an accounting designation (CA, CPA)
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with proven ability to deal with all levels including Senior Management
  • Strong technical skills using Excel and Power Point
  • Demonstrated superior technical accounting and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated detailed orientation and accuracy in generating quantitative and qualitative analysis and strong organizational skills
