The opportunity

CBC/Radio-Canada operates one of the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading technology infrastructures and one of the largest private networks, which distributes its content and services exclusively across the country. CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for a Senior Manager for our production system architecture team, a team within governance and engineering focused on developing tomorrow\xe2\x80\x99s production systems and infrastructure.

The senior manager will be responsible to lead a small and agile team tasked to lead tests and proof of concept of new technologies that will help optimize and transform the various technologies used to support the production and delivery of media content across all CBC/Radio-Canada platforms.

By working together and with the help of technicians, engineers and architects, the team will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the implementation of cutting edge technologies.

This is a full time permanent position, and the successful incumbent will be based in Montreal, Torontoor Ottawa, working on projects that could be deployed in any of the CBC/Radio-Canada facilities.

You will manage the end-to-end project implementation from proposal and procurement to design, implementation, testing and handover, in accordance with CBC/Radio-Canada and industry standards as well as current federal and provincial regulations. Additionally, you will be working with cutting edge technology in audio and video production systems, cloud migration, IP for broadcast, Automation and security and reliability.

As our new Production system Senior Manager you will:

Maintain a technology and market watch on key innovative technologies to to better understand the evolving tech ecosystem.

Initiate, lead and participate to proof of concept and trial on new media production technologies.

Identify and introduce technologies and systems that help the corporation optimize and transform its technologies and infrastructures.

Lead a small tech of production system architects in completing ASD strategic objectives in relation to production systems.

Participate in the elaboration of corporation technological roadmaps to ensure we maximize the value of our technological investments over the upcoming years.

Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify the evolving needs of the corporation in relation to media production and distribution.

Collaborate with engineers, architects and other stakeholders to ensure our overall infrastructure footprint is positioning the corporation to meet its strategic objectives.

Qualifications

What you bring:

The willingness to work with new cutting edge, untested technologies

Practical experience with the design, implementation and or configuration of:

Media / Broadcast Infrastructure (both Live and file based systems)

Cloud IAAS/PAAS platforms(MS Azure or AWS preferred)

Storage systems

Media transport

Experience in leading a small team, coaching and mentoring people

Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Applied Science or Engineering, or a related field

Experience in Project Management is preferred, specifically with the Agile approach

Membership, or eligibility to become a member, of the provincial Engineering Association (PEO, OIQ, \xe2\x80\xa6 etc) is an asset.

Strong and influential verbal and written communication skills in English and French considered a strong asset

Strong analytical skills, with an innate ability to think through complex issues and design innovative solutions, as well as digging further into issues, removing roadblocks and presenting solutions for immediate and long term

Ability to build and maintain solid relationships with peers, partners, clients, management, and external vendors, in addition to being able to effectively translate technical requirements to non technical business needs

Ability to work efficiently on a number of projects at different stages with multiple priorities, never losing sight of the details

Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies quickly, all while staying up to date with industry best practices

Ability to travel to different CBC/Radio-Canada locations to oversee different phases of projects.(less than 10% travel required)
