Job Title Senior Manager, Digital Underwriting and Risk Management



What is the opportunity?

You will support the strategy of Corporate Underwriting and RBC Insurance through the delivery of innovative underwriting solutions that prioritize digitization and analysis of the underwriting risk.

What will you do?

  • Drive and support strategies that deliver improvements in innovation, digitization, underwriting philosophy, guidelines and procedures
  • Set corporate underwriting policy through the design of unique underwriting strategies to deliver a superior client experience and drive profitable growth
  • Conceptualize and manage the underwriting rules set as well as non-digital underwriting guidelines in order to recommend changes that align with STP KPIs
-Proactively look to the industry for trends, developments, and regulatory changes
  • Provide analysis and underwriting opinions on contestable claims rescissions
  • Build a strong technical knowledge as it relates to risk assessment to develop people through coaching and training opportunities
What will you need to succeed?

Must have:
  • Senior Life Insurance underwriter with 5 to 10 years individual market experience with a strong grasp of life insurance products and digital sales enablement.
  • Strong technical background and experience in designing/conceptualizing/implementing digital underwriting rules and process flows.
  • A passion to ignite change within the business, challenging the status quo to find new innovative ways to assess risk
  • Excellent facilitation, written communication and presentation skills
Nice to have:
  • Critical Illness and/or Disability underwriting knowledge would be an asset
  • Bilingual in both French and English, written and spoken
  • Working knowledge of group medical underwriting and/or creditor underwriting
  • Working knowledge of project management framework, product development and risk management
