Senior Manager, Development Accounting

Job Description


Our client, a fast growing real estate firm is looking for a Senior Manager, Development Accounting to join their Team. The Senior Manager, Development Accounting will be responsible for overseeing development projects in the commericial and residential space. Whilst reporting to the Director, the Senior Manager, Development Accounting will be working alongside vertical leads across all departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with various teams within Development, Construction, Property and Leasing to obtain accurate project related information to ensure quality budgets and accurate information.
  • Perform monthly accounting close procedures
  • Identify ways to improve the existing reporting templates for distribution. Create and manage new templates for various development reports.
  • Manage a team of Project Accounting team members. Responsible for the recruitment and training of new team members as required.
  • Coordinate, review and analyze monthly progress billing invoices for construction to ensure billing accuracy, fee reconciliation and ledger balance
  • Track budget changes and update the financial models monthly as contracts are awarded
  • Execute daily transactions for all projects (wires, loan requests, etc)
  • Support departments with requested financial analysis or retrieval of information
  • Cash flow management
  • Review compliance filings (HST, Corporate Tax, etc)
  • Work with external accountants to prepare year-end financials and tax compliance
  • Assist with obtaining the land loan and construction loans
  • Provide support with setting up new joint ventures projects: co-owners cash funding and financial reporting requirements by coordinating with various parties including Corporate Finance & Treasury, lawyers and co-owners.
Looking for:
  • Undegraduate degree in a Accounting, Finance, Business or related fields;
  • CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA or actively enrolled in the CPA program is an asset;
  • at least 2-3 years of managerial experience in the real estate development space;
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational and planning skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high performing environment
