Job Description

We are seeking permanent full-time senior kennel attendants to join our team! You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.

Shift is 1 pm to close (around 9:30 pm). YOU MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK EVERY WEEKEND.

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of professional dog handling experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or daycare setting.

All staff members must have a reliable method of transportation as public transit is not available in our area.

Responsibilities:

- Exercising the dogs both mentally and physically, including structured daily walks, group/pack activities, treadmill sessions, basic grooming, obedience, and individual attention.

- Guiding the team and delegating tasks

- Ensuring check-ins and check-outs are done well and following up regarding any discrepancies

- Maintaining quality assurance protocols

- Ensuring medications and feeding are done correctly

- Assuring that buildings are opened and closed properly

- Ensuring that each building is clean, organized, and all dogs' needs are met

- Enforcing health and safety protocols for dogs and staff, and informing management of any health and safety issues.

Qualifications:

- At least 3 years of professional experience in dog care

- Previous experience as a supervisor or team lead is an asset

- Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills

- Ability to confidently supervise dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

- Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Ability to be on one's feet and walking for several hours in a day

- Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs
