: This position can be staffed based out of Ottawa, Calgary, or if you are outside of these locations, 100% Remote (In Canada).

About the position:
We are seeking an innovative & collaborative Storage Specialist to join our Core Technology Services (CTS) portfolio! Our group is continuously investing to deliver superior services in a world-class organization where automation is combined with best practice to streamline and standardize products as well as improve the speed of delivery for Canada\xe2\x80\x99 Central Bank.
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Network & Storage Services, you will join a team of 12-15 members recognized for being diverse and inclusive and for being a dynamic team focused on being digital, ready, and resilient.

What you will do
As a Senior IT Storage Specialist, you will provide level 2 ongoing technical support, maintenance, and improvement to the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s current storage environments. You will also help support and evolve our "Software Defined Data Centre", built on highly scalable hyper-converged systems of storage, network, security, compute, all enabled through code. Your mindset is to minimize infrastructure customization while being well versed in the merits of what CTS can already offer.
More specifically, you will:
  • Work to analyze diagnostic information and/or resolve uncommon or complex problems in a multi-functional setting, assessing, and communicating technological issues that affect the functional or corporate level, and implement solutions to resolve.
  • Support the technical team through an Agile/DevOps approach.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external counterparts (partners, clients and suppliers) to support operational objectives.
  • Mentor and provide direction and guidance to junior storage specialists

Note -
The nature of this work will require additional paid on-call as well as paid overtime. The Bank offers flexible work hours to accommodate.
What you need to succeed
You are self-motivated and independent, capable of finding solutions that challenge the status quo. You are also a great team player with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate & coach colleagues within the team and ITS.
In addition, you have
  • Experience managing, administering, troubleshooting and maintaining an IT Storage SaaS Offering (Cloud Manager and/or Cloud Insight preferred)
  • Experience with any of the following:
    • Archive (Multi Cloud & On Premise)
    • Cloud File Storage Service (Azure NetApp Files and Cloud ONTAP Volume preferred)
    • Cloud Backup (Commvault preferred)
    • Cloud Based Replication
  • Experience in a scripting language, such as PowerShell or Python and in creating automation scripts, deploying orchestration and automation processes and products.
  • The ability to support a 24/7/365, multi-tiered large-scale production environment.

Nice-to-have:
  • Knowledge of NetApp, Hitachi Virtual Storage (VSP), Unified Storage Solution (HUS), and Storage Area Networks (SAN).
  • Experience with Veritas Netbackup, Commvault/RP4VM.
  • Knowledge of Cisco and Brocade Fiber switches
  • Understanding of DevOps culture, methodologies, coding and automation

Your education and experience

Your combined education and work experience demonstrate that you have the proficiencies and skills for the role. We are ideally seeking candidates with a relevant degree/diploma and 5+ years of relevant experience.

Remote work / Hybrid Work Model
#LI-Remote For this position, should you not live within reasonable commuting distance of the Ottawa or Calgary office, you will be able to work 100% remote (within Canada) for the duration of this term. The Bank offers work arrangements that provide employees with flexibility, enable high-performing teams, and support an excellent workplace culture. Most employees can telework from home for a substantial part of each month as part of the Bank`s hybrid work model, and they are expected on site at the Bank location a minimum of eight days per month to help build connections between colleagues. You must live in Canada, and within reasonable commuting distance of the office.

  • Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $88,505 to $110,630 (job grade 17)
  • Depending on performance, you may be eligible for performance pay. The first tier of performance pay is for successfully meeting expectation, at 7 to 10% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay for those who exceed expectations (15% of your base salary).. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.

  • Extra vacation days (up to five each year) that you can purchase to add to your vacation entitlement
