BC Place is hiring a Senior Event Manager with a focus on delivering large spectator sporting events, including international and our tenant partner teams; BC Lions and Whitecaps FC. The position plays a key role in ensuring service excellence, client relations and event management, planning and administration in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

We are looking for a candidate with strong personal motivation who can manage multiple projects simultaneously, find synergies and mentor others. A keen eye for detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines, with excellent communication skills, and a proven record of managing relationships are essential.



What you will do:



This role will focus on sporting events and will manage our tenant teams (BC Lions and Whitecaps FC), as well as other sporting events Builds and maintains superb relationships with every client/partner through all phases of planning, execution and follow-up; Works closely with our tenant teams and other clients to ensure seamless delivery of diverse events in alignment with venue policies, regulations, and PavCo's objectives; Balances client expectations with facility standards and contractual obligations to ensure safe and successful events; Resolves issues and strives to improve the client experience Financial management of events, including participation in quoting and negotiating of provisioning of services through to verifying orders and final invoicing Exercises discretion in making financial decisions regarding events and client requests that fall outside of the contractual agreement, ensuring alignment with departmental budgets and overall financial objectives; Exercises discretion in escalating matters to the Senior Manager, Event Operations & Management, utilizing appropriate judgment to determine when escalation is warranted Contributes actively to a positive team culture and the improvement of the organization through participation in team meetings, involvement in special projects and implementing learnings from post-event briefings; Provides mentoring, leadership, training and direction to the Event Managers to advance their roles aligning with BC Place's vision of becoming a world leader in event management. Fosters their professional growth and development toward more advanced skills and behaviors. Reviews and manages Event Managers' performance and development plans to ensure goals and objectives are met; Manages and resolves conflicts amongst team members to foster a healthy and collaborative team dynamic.

What you will bring:



Minimum 5 years' experience in the Event Management and/or Hospitality industry supervising others, budgeting, and event costing; Experience with managing large-scale sporting events IT, digital and media literate including the use of desktop programs, and social media; proficient in Microsoft Office and other related software; Proficiency with Momentus (Event Business Management System), or a similar event business management system an asset; A proven track record of using innovation in support of events and service excellence delivery; Demonstrated ability to set and achieve high performance standards and achieve them through collaborating with various departments and extended team; High level of organizational and interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication; Experience with working in a unionized environment, and the daily administration of a collective bargaining agreement; Ability to work flexible hours supporting events including evenings, weekends and holidays.

The salary range for this position is $80,000-96,000

Offers will be in line with PavCo's internal pay equity and qualified candidate's experience and education. Salary discussion and overall compensation package will be presented during initial phone interviews.
