About the Role - Senior Event Manager




The Senior Event Manager plays a pivotal role in leading and managing all aspects of event planning and execution for both local and group bookings, ensuring seamless coordination and elevated guest experiences that reflect Forbes Five-Star Service Standards and the Park Hyatt Toronto brand promise.


This position serves as the primary liaison between clients and hotel operations, overseeing the detailing, coordination, and flawless delivery of all Food & Beverage, room setup, audiovisual, and guest experience components. The Senior Event Manager also mentors and supports members of the Events team, contributes strategically to revenue goals, and upholds the highest standards of service excellence and professionalism.

Some of the responsibilities include:



Lead and oversee all phases of the event planning process for key market segments which can include corporate groups & meetings, social events, and weddings. Act as the primary contact for high-profile or complex events, ensuring every detail aligns with client expectations, operational capability, and brand standards. Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, attentiveness, and personalized service that anticipates guest needs.



Collaborate closely with the Sales, Culinary, Beverage, and Operations teams to ensure seamless coordination and execution of all event details. Supervise, mentor, and support Event Planning Managers and Coordinators to ensure alignment with departmental and brand standards. Conduct client meetings, site inspections, menu tastings, and pre-convention conferences as required. Review all event orders, contracts, and function sheets to ensure accuracy and alignment with client requirements and operational capacity. Monitor event profitability, maximizing revenue through effective upselling while maintaining guest satisfaction and loyalty. Partner with the Director of Events on forecasting, budgeting, and revenue strategy to achieve departmental financial objectives. Perform detailed pre-event and post-event evaluations to assess successes, identify improvements, and drive continuous service enhancement. Support and contribute to improving MPSI (Meeting Planner Satisfaction Index) scores through exceptional service and timely follow-up. Maintain and nurture vendor relationships to ensure quality and reliability in all event partnerships. Model and uphold Forbes Five-Star Service Standards in every client and colleague interaction, setting the tone for service excellence. Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of progressive management level experience in hotel event planning, event operations, or related roles, preferably within a luxury or five-star environment. Proven success managing high-value and complex events across multiple segments (corporate, social, weddings, entertainment, and multi-day conferences). Deep understanding of luxury hospitality and Forbes Five-Star standards, with a passion for delivering intuitive and personalized guest experiences. Strong leadership skills with prior experience mentoring and guiding junior team members. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure. Proficiency in event planning software such as Delphi, Social Tables, or Cvent, along with strong Microsoft Office skills. Solid knowledge of food and beverage operations, with the ability to creatively tailor offerings to meet client needs and budgets. Detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative -- demonstrating both strategic thinking and hands-on operational awareness.
