As the Senior Estimator, you will be part of a team to prepare civil cost estimates for various construction projects, and partner with management in bidding on and/or determining price of service. You'll also provide leadership and oversight of all secured projects across Vancouver Island.
Although our head office is in Nanaimo, travelling to various estimate locations and sites within Vancouver Island will be required. The Senior Estimator is also provided with additional items to support the duties required.
Wage $125, 000 per year, based on experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous estimating experience preferred - minimum 3 to 5 years. on Vancouver Island or BC Lower Mainland
Completion of Post-Secondary program with a focus on Civil Construction is an asset.
Ability to ready and interpret civil construction drawings and perform a full material take off.
Problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making abilities based on both creative and logical thinking.
Strong communication at multiple levels of an organization.
Resource management and high level multi-tasking capabilities.
Experience with Microsoft Office to assist with bidding and administration of projects.
Knowledge and experience working with Adobe, Auto CAD and/or Bluebeam is preferred.
Flexibility to work extended hours if required.
Valid BC Drivers license.
KEY EXPECTATIONS:
Assist the estimating department with full cycle bid process and oversee the completion of projects by:
Selecting, preparing and managing trade contacts and suppliers
Proactively ensuring the projects are on time and within budget
Project monitoring, scheduling and cost analysis
Process shop drawings, RFI's changes
Communicate with owners, consultants, trades and staff proactively and in a professional manner to allow for efficient project completion
Ensure project completion by consulting with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments as well as construction supervisors.
Grow and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and personnel
Prepare and process monthly information and documents required for project costing and billing
Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
Assist in conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction or sub-contract components of current and future projects
Assist in analyzing blueprints, construction drawings and other documentation to prepare project specific time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
