The Senior Electrical Designer/Checker is responsible for the detailed drafting design and checking the technical requirements of electrical components associated with process modules and equipment including 3D modules and 2D drawings. This position is responsible for providing feedback and technical guidance to Senior, Intermediate, and Junior Designers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides design services by gathering information, making studies, computing calculations, and preparing detailed design and deliverables in accordance with project requirements
  • Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
  • Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals
  • Coordinates design criteria with engineering providing layout skid packages including MCC building, cable tray and lighting layouts, and motor schematic drawings
  • Investigates pertinent design factors, such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements
  • Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to codes, regulations, and standards, procedures, specifications, critical interface compatibility, productibility aspects, and dimensional accuracy of calculations
  • Checks for conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and economy of fabrication and identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies
  • Coordinates assigned engineering and design work with other project groups
  • Recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers
  • Participates in project planning and execution, man-hour estimation, and schedule development
  • Supervises and provides technical direction to intermediate and junior designers
Qualifications:

A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent education and experience with 15 years of directly related experience in electrical design of oil and gas processing facilities in the Canadian Industry.
  • Experience with an EPC work environment.
  • 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience with CADWorx, 3+ years with 2D Acad
  • Experience with Autodesk programs including AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Familiarity with CEC, NEC industry regulations, and standards
A member of ASET is an asset.
