Hybrid Work Model


SLC Management operates in a hybrid environment with a mix of in-office and virtual work where our employees are empowered to do their best. Generally, employees are expected to work three days in-office each week with flexibility depending on their business, client and team needs.






: Reporting to the Managing Director, Complex Transaction Advisory, SLC Finance, the incumbent will lead the Global Investment Financial Reporting & Analysis team and will be responsible for consolidated financial reporting processes for our global investment portfolio. This will encompass all of the accounting, analytical and operational processes involved with consolidating these investment holdings in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The large scale, scope and complexity of this role requires an advanced level of technical proficiency, analytical insight and operational efficiency. This user community includes Central Accounting, Regulators, Asset Liability Management, Portfolio Management, Asset Investment Managers, Strategic Business Units, Corporate, Legal, Audit and Tax functions that will be served both locally and remotely. What will you do?
  • Overall responsibility and management for complete, accurate, and timely consolidated financial reporting processes for SLC Finance under IFRS, including acting as a technical resource to provide support and direction on accounting related matters to ensure close milestone is achieved
  • Overall responsibility and management of financial statement notes requirements, management discussion & analysis, board reporting and regulatory reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with guidelines
  • Overall responsibility and management of quarterly earnings analysis, as well as fully support analysis and interpretation of ad hoc issues as required
  • Provide leadership and guidance to various business partners, including Corporate, Canadian and US Finance, Tax and ALM
  • Evaluate and interpret on a timely basis the impact of new accounting and/or regulatory requirements on the financial results and reporting and on the related investment accounting functions
  • Provide leadership and expertise to strategic projects and initiatives, including development of processes and controls to incorporate into controlled and efficient reporting processes. Current key projects include implementation of investment data hub.
  • Consult and provide operational accounting guidance on complex transactions, consolidated investment entities, and new funds.
  • Fully support a strong and effective control environment, with a tenacious focus on a continuous improvement working environment
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of finance professionals to promote a high- performance culture
What do you need to succeed?
  • Professional Accounting/Finance designation (CPA/CFA) with 7+ years of related industry experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills to service all members of the user community. This involves effective oral and written communication of technical information for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong operational expertise in reporting and systems competencies with a focus on continual process improvement and the ability to leverage automation to ensure efficient and effective operational processes
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and make decisions that require innovative thinking
  • Strong experience with the effective use of financial reporting systems and tools
  • Strong leadership abilities to direct and develop a team of accounting professionals
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant IFRS standards, as well as regulatory rules for investments with the ability to translate into practical applications
  • Investment accounting experience, preferably within the insurance industry

Job Category: Finance Salary Range 105,000/105 000 - 165,900/165 900 The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
