About this opportunity:

We are seeking a DCI Business Intelligence Engineer/Technologist to work with our Drilling Completions and Interventions team. The candidate should have the necessary skills to support the integrated SSDCI Department and focus on DCI data architecture/management and business intelligence initiatives for well delivery optimization and data-driven decision making. The ideal candidate should have exposure to well construction datasets and be able to develop effective digital solutions for well delivery and drilling performance optimization.

Responsibilities:

Data Architecture

Document as-is data architecture, develop to-be data architecture, and corresponding roadmap; data architecture to include data sources, transport and ingestion, storage, query and processing, transformation, analysis and output, consumption.

Implement to-be data architecture ensuring its efficiency and accuracy to support business functions and operational processes. Translate conceptual data-driven business requirements into practical data architecture and data management solutions to accelerate the DCI workflow within the organization.

Data Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI)

Design, develop, and maintain various Data Analytics and BI systems and technologies like data lakes, data warehouses, data marts, dashboards, visualizers, and various transactional, operational and management reporting solutions to enable data driven informed decision-making.

Data analysis: Use statistical analysis, machine learning, and other data analysis techniques to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in the well construction data, and draw conclusions about performance optimization.

Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence

Support and work with stakeholders to identify and evaluate potential value opportunities for Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

Data Integration

Design and develop extract/transform/load (ETL) and/or ELT (extract/load/transform) solutions and API\xe2\x80\x99s as required for data ingestion and/or consumption by the data analytics/BI solutions

Technical Support

Support the DCI data collection and data management. Collect and manage large volumes of data from various sources, including drilling reports, and well construction engineering data.

Database Management: Maintain and update DCI databases to ensure the accuracy and availability of data for analysis.

Steward and support the data management standards and guidelines including development and execution of procedures for data quality, governance, security, collection, transformation, distribution, consumption, data lifecycle management (file-level data creation, storage, sharing and usage, archival, deletion, protection, disaster recovery).

Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, including subsurface, exploration and production teams, to help them make informed decisions based on the data analysis.

Interface with the IT group to establish and maintain the technical infrastructure, platform/tools and services required to enable the DCI data architecture and BI solutions.

Technical Documentation

Develop and maintain technical documentation such as data architecture schematics, data management standards and guidelines, and technical artifacts as required for solution design and delivery

Potential to expand core responsibilities to support the DCI Well Delivery team in the following areas:

Develop drilling programs: Use data analysis to develop drilling programs that optimize well placement, drilling methods, and completion techniques.

Evaluate drilling performance: Monitor drilling performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Conduct risk assessments: Analyze drilling data and evaluate drilling risks, including wellbore stability, hole cleaning, and lost circulation.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including geologists, well engineers, and project managers, and other professionals to ensure that well operations are executed according to plan.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or Technical diploma in computer science or business intelligence related field

8-12 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience working in related core areas

Expert knowledge in data architectures, \xe2\x80\x8b\xe2\x80\x8brelational databases data modeling, database management systems and information management

Proficient in relevant programming languages including SQL, and Python.

Proficient in data visualization tools, such as Spotfire or Power BI.

Proficient in designing and implementing data integration solutions including ETL/ELT tools and API\xe2\x80\x99s

Proficient in database optimization and performance tuning

Strong programming skills with the ability to work in distributed systems.

Excellent communication skills, equally adept at working with technical staff as well as business leaders

Consistent with the Accords Act, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador specifically and Canada generally, who are qualified, will be given first consideration for training and employment.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Assets

Experience in the oil and gas industry, with a knowledge of drilling and well delivery processes including Well Construction Geological, Geophysical, and Reservoir data.

Exposure and experience with non-drilling functional scopes, such as reservoir and production engineering, integrity engineering, subsea well systems and associated operations

Experience that includes exposure to an offshore and/or harsh weather subsea and platform development environment.

Knowledge of current Atlantic Region oil and gas operations, and East Coast Canada activities in the Jeanne d\xe2\x80\x99Arc Basin in general
