Job Description


We\'re looking for a Content Designer to proactively advocate and implement vision for product language and content design across our products. In this role, you will design content that simplifies the complicated and helps our customers accomplish their goals with Hootsuite. You will use empathy, logic, and data to inform content choices and ensure a cohesive and unified voice across our products. You will partner with a wide range of stakeholders including product designers, engineers, product managers, content strategists, UX researchers, and senior product marketing professionals to enhance the user experience. While working remotely or in a hybrid work arrangement, a blend of virtual (in accordance with Hootsuite\'s distributed workforce strategy), and in Hootsuite\'s Toronto or Vancouver office, you will report to Senior Director, Product Design & User Experience

WHAT YOU\'LL DO

  • Develop, implement, analyze, assess, and improve our in-product content design and make decisions about information architecture, product naming, UX/UI copy, contextual help, error messages and assistive tooling that drive product adoption and solve customer problems at scale
  • Provide mentorship to writers and educate cross-functional partners on the role of content design and strategy throughout the product development process
  • Develop and implement new content design processes, team rituals, and collaboration meetings to scale our end-to-end content design process, allowing teams to self-serve and get guidance in the most efficient way possible
  • Create world-class in-app content experiences for our end-user audience that are simple, approachable, personable, modern, accessible, and conversational
  • Establish and implement systems and processes to ensure all customer-facing content experiences in our product meet our high-standards as well as all localization, inclusivity, and accessibility objectives
  • Perform content design experiments and collaborate with our user research team to test, improve, iterate and measure on our terminology, wayfinding, content density, content structure, sequencing, and customer mental models
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX designers, user research, and engineers to explore and evolve content curation and how user experiences are presented in Hootsuite
  • Document the language and word choices in design specifications, while adhering to the existing terminology and style guide. Add and revise the existing terminology and style guide as needed
  • Partner with designers to create, review, and simplify complex workflows and UI screens and ensure customers can complete any task with ease.
  • Contribute to the development of on-brand standards, processes, and workflows while contributing to a global unified content strategy that supports the complete Hootsuite customer journey by ensuring customers have in-product information that helps them be successful
WHAT YOU\'LL NEED
  • Creative and passionate about modern, intuitive content design and have a varied portfolio that showcases your skills and experience in this field
  • Skilled in user research and writing of UX copy, but also in design thinking across a variety of media forms
  • Extensive relevant experience developing user-facing content and working with UX teams with at least two years of experience developing modern UX content to support SaaS for Enterprise (in addition to supporting other types of businesses)
  • Experience delivering inclusive content experiences that comply with relevant localization and accessibility guidelines
  • Experience using data and user-research-backed design frameworks to design informed and engaging content experiences
  • Ability to advocate for changes in vision, strategy, and solutions by taking a user-centered design principles approach
  • A Bachelor\'s degree in a related discipline such as Computer Science or Communications. UX design experience, UX writing training, a technical writing qualification, or a UX writing certification would be highly beneficial
  • Experience working with UX Designers including using Figma, Sketch, InVision, or similar.
  • Experience working with engineers, including using Jira, XML-based publishing tools like GitHub, and industry-standard Content Management Systems (CMS).
