Job Description


The Senior UX Designer leads the design and font-end development of Sheridan\'s web applications and primary website sheridancollege.ca. The incumbent is part of a team that maintains and evolves Sheridan\'s online brand across multiple platforms. \xc3\xa0

The incumbent also investigates new and modified business requirements, conducts qualitative and quantitative user testing, evaluates results, and leads the design and development of online components to enhance the responsive user experience across platforms.

They work in close collaboration with marketing and web operations team, internal stakeholders and consults with the leaders to address the strategic goals and objectives of Sheridan College.

What You\'ll Be Doing

  • Leading responsive user experience design and front-end development for Sheridan\'s main site sheridancollege.ca and advises on all digital properties while maintaining AODA standards.
  • Support website roadmap strategy via strategic UX design and front- end development.
  • Creating AODA compliant prototypes and mock-ups for website UX needs, managing brand quality consistency, and designing high-quality graphic images and executing technical development.
  • Creating user-friendly web components and designs by using HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript, JQuery, JavaScript libraries, API, NPM, Package managers, Adobe Suite products and more
  • Working in a cloud environment, MS Azure and Azure Dev Ops
  • Collaborate with back-end developers, agency partners, and marketing team to improve usability on primary site
  • Investigating new and existing client business requirements and make modifications to address clients changing business needs.
  • Conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis (e.g. user testing to assess user behavior) to evaluate results to improve and evolve online user experiences and design site information architecture to achieve clients\' desired business objectives.
  • Documenting functional specifications, style guides, component, and pattern libraries for use by college-wide web projects and initiatives. Use these tools to support design and publishing decisions and advise internal clients.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
About You

You have excellent technical and design skills for enterprise content management systems (experience with Sitecore preferred), written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences and communities.

You bring experience working with large scale cross functional teams along with the ability to work independently on projects.

You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • 3-year diploma/degree in Web Design, Computer Programming, Multimedia, Graphic Design or a related field of study.
  • 5 years of experience designing, developing, and monitoring websites to W3C and AODA (WCAG) standards. Demonstrated knowledge of usability testing (Equivalency will be considered).
  • Experience with Web design and development.
  • Experience working with the following types of software applications and programming languages:
  • Prototyping and Usability software applications
  • User testing methodologies
  • Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript, JQuery, JavaScript libraries, API, NPM, Package managers
  • Content Management Systems (CMS) (Sitecore preferred)
  • Photo and illustration editing software (Adobe Suite)
