Job Overview
Working under minimal supervision, the Senior Claims Data Analyst is responsible for performing data extraction, transformation, descriptive analytics, and diagnostic analytics to support the Wawanesa\'s Claims Excellence team in operational reporting, assurance, and consulting activities across the enterprise. Job Responsibilities
Utilizes and transforms our claims data to provide operational insights and reporting
Researches, extracts and manipulates complex and large volumes of data from relevant sources
Assesses data quality to evaluate impact on analytics and identify improvement opportunities
Synthesizes data to support risk assessments and create actionable insights
Leads data analytics planning activities within Claims Excellence
Performs complex descriptive and diagnostic analytics to support reporting, assurance, and consulting activities
Collaborates with team members on exception analysis and refinement of analytics results
Develops and maintains right-sized internal documentation and maintains quality standards
Mentors team members and supervises analytics performed by others
Presents results of analytics work to stakeholders including Senior Management
Assists with operational reporting and preparing and analyzing KPIs
Challenges the status quo and pursues continuous improvement opportunities
Develops and maintains relationships with IS, Actuarial, and business resources
Maintains a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information
Performs other duties as required
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree with a preference for a combination of technical and business study (such as management information systems)
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data related role, such as data analytics, data management, or other data-related technical.
Advanced knowledge of SQL and demonstratable experience with database systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Redshift is required
Experience with data visualization tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik is required
Experience with programming languages such as Python is required
Experience with reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, Cognos, or SSRS is considered an asset
Experience with the AWS cloud environment and relevant tools (Athena, Glue, Lambda, S3) is considered an asset
Experience in P&C/Life insurance or financial services is considered an asset
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as part of a team
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
