Accountabilities:

  • Support marketing, brand, and sales with ongoing standardized monthly and ad hoc delivery of category and consumer insights including the FDMC (Food, Drug, Mass, Club)
  • Develop and implement comprehensive tools and strategies to allow raw data to be transformed into business insights, with recommendations for implementation.
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly category performance reports to WM and Iovate
  • Understand Wal-Mart\'s goals for category including growth expectations, profit expectations
  • Recommend strategies to optimize short and long-range planning and effective consumer, and market analyses, including but not limited to: Merchandising, Shopper Marketing, 4P strategy, innovation development, consumer journey/ path to purchase studies, shopper decision trees, and more, both in Bricks & Mortar sales and e-commerce
  • Ongoing recommendations relating to emerging socio-economic, consumer, category and retail trends and dynamics to fill white space opportunities through monthly analysis of third party insight tools, as well as competitive insight data points, both in FDMC and VHC/Specialty Channel
  • Provide assistance on the sizing, validation and prioritization of key growth opportunities
  • Main category contact for buyer/category group including, but not limited to Walmart buyer group for U.S. and Canada markets; international as req\'d.
  • Support the Category Advisor(s) WM Group in planning, analysis and review of live merchandising strategies & tactics, and in addition, oversee WM U.S./Canada and Sam\'s Club reporting at category level for internal stakeholders
  • Responsible for continual evaluation and recommendation of new and emerging third party data sources to enhance category and consumer insights
  • Support and delegate tasks with cross functional teams including sales and marketing in development and delivery of consumer and category insights for customer pitches and decks as required
  • Ongoing planogram development and recommendations for key customers (retailers) as required
  • Training and developing teams in category and consumer insights as required
  • Must be available flexible hours throughout the year and may require travel within Canada and the U.S.

  • Effective delivery of data, analysis, and insights to internal and external customers that guide strategy and deliver on business objectives
Experience & Skillset:
  • Post-Secondary Education in Sales, Marketing, Statistics, Data Management or related field
  • Must have 5+ years in Category Mgmt., Competitor Analysis, Analytical Sales Mgmt., Trade Marketing Mgmt., Consumer Insights, or Consumer Research
  • Must have practical experience of using modular planning software like JDA Pro Space or equivalent
  • Must have proven track record using Retail Data systems including, but not limited to, Retail Link and ToolBox, Precima, Aimia, Aztec
  • Must have strong project management, analytical skills, and independent drive to acquire new knowledge
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles; predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems
  • Comprehensive understanding of third party insight tools (Nielsen Markettrack/ Homescan or IRI Market Data at a minimum)
  • Must have practical experience of using modular planning software like JDA Pro Space or equivalent
  • Must have proven track record using Retail Data systems including, but not limited to, Retail Link and ToolBox, Precima, Aimia, Aztec
  • Oversee compliance to category plans and modular implementation
  • Category Management experience is preferred (WM U.S. and Canadian experience is an asset)
  • Able to service internal stakeholders as customers, as well as provide content for, or directly to, external customers in person
  • Thrive in both a team environment and autonomously
  • Proactive and able to continuously manage change in an extremely fast paced, energetic work environment
  • Leadership and coaching skills; outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite
  • Experience in Personal Training, Fitness and overall Health and Wellness would be considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of nutritional supplements and ingredients is key
