As the Senior Category Manager, Wellness, you will create and implement the vision, strategy and direction for the Wellness portfolio. This senior leader finds innovative ways to grow and develop the business while supporting Indigo’s strategic priorities. The role partners cross-functionally, effectively communicating and leading to execute category strategy and plans WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Develop, implement and drive the overall Wellness mission, philosophy and brand positioning strategy
  • Set strategic plans for the category that is consistent with overall company strategic priorities
  • Develop omnichannel strategic assortment plans and merchandising direction for the category that achieve key performance metrics
  • Set the strategic vision for private label business including how to best leverage and work with Indigo’s Creative Studio as well as external private label and national brand partners
  • Set the strategic vision for the category-specific shops within the retail channel to propel forward store design, fixturing and visual merchandising
  • Develop seasonal marketing strategies
  • Lead development of omni-channel strategic Wellness assortment
  • Partner closely with Design and Sourcing to ensure products align to strategy and brand image
  • Oversee development of proprietary product collections
  • Lead key negotiations with vendors to gain best possible terms of engagement
  • Lead development of merchandising plans that are consistent with overall merchandising calendar
  • Strategize collaboratively with Planning and Inventory teams to ensure the most productive allocation of inventory by category and by store
  • Leverage financial analysis to recommend actions that maximize sales and profit
  • Effectively strategize and recommend actions for Markdowns to maximize sales and profits
  • Collaborate with Visual and Online Merchandising to ensure category assortment strategy is prioritized and properly reflected in in-store and online presentations
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop campaigns that are consistent with assortment strategies, ensure assortment strategy is properly communicated in marketing materials
  • Lead quarterly assortment reviews, hind-sights and category strategy meetings
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of operating standards and practices across entire line of business
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with field leadership team through collaboration, communication and store visits
  • Stay current on market and competitive trends
  • Partner with Planning and Inventory teams to develop macro space plans with support from store design and visual merchandising
  • Ensure the execution of team deliverables and adapt team priorities based on changing needs
  • Set/adhere to team budgets, as applicable
  • Act as an advocate for the customer by placing them at the forefront of all design and decision-making processes
  • Embrace and seek out technology that creates high tech and high touch solutions for Indigo’s customers
  • Proactively identify and anticipate customer expectations and needs
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues and working to resolve them

Qualifications
WHO YOU ARE:
  • University degree in business, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the retailing, product development and category management field with progressive leadership accountability
  • Experience in Beauty or Fitness preferred
  • Proven ability to build productive business relationships with both internal and external partners
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively with external business partners
  • Proven ability to establish vision and set direction for a team
  • Proven ability to lead a team through change
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and reacting quickly to shifting priorities
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Passionate for the category
  • 30% Travel for trade shows, store visits and competitive shopping
