This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work in the office 2 days a week.

Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for an analyst to join its VSM team in Montreal. This is an opportunity to step into Canada\xe2\x80\x99s oldest and most respected broadcaster as a key player in integrating, supporting and managing toolsets for our cutting-edge media-over-IP (MoIP) infrastructure at the new Maison de Radio-Canada.

The three primary aspects of this role include:

  • Monitoring the MoIP network and troubleshooting identified problems to ensure availability.
  • Planning, coordinating and implementing changes to media flows on the network.
  • Documenting our MoIP network platforms.
Tasks:
  • Analyze MoIP flows in real time, from end to end, using tools like Prism, Arista CloudVision and Wireshark; detect and resolve potential problem sources.
  • Program an orchestrator (Lawo VSM), including its workflows and control panels.
  • Query APIs and databases using tools like Postman and SQL.
  • Edit Ansible playbooks to batch-configure MoIP peripherals.
  • Monitor PTP synchronization of infrastructure, resolving any issues that arise.
  • Edit FPGA processor configurations using JavaScript scripts.
  • Develop operational procedures and standards.
  • Develop and deliver training.
  • Track and document requests in service management tools.
Qualifications

What you bring:

Advanced knowledge of multicast networking :
  • Standard protocols: IP, IGMP, DHCP, SSH, DNS, ARP, SFTP, HTTP, Telnet, TCP, UDP, NTP.
Knowledge of MoIP networking is an asset :
  • Specialized protocols: SMPTE-2110, AES-67, PTP, Arista MCS, RTP, SIP, NMOS, Lawo Ember+, NDI, Dante.
Knowledge of audiovisual production workflows is an asset :
  • TV/radio control rooms, presentation booths, production studios and other audiovisual production environments.
  • IP terminations (Lawo, Riedel)
Knowledge of programming languages is an asset :
  • Python, JavaScript, REST API, SQL, HTML, BASH
Experience with industry tools is an asset :
  • Lawo VSM
  • Arista CloudVision
  • ELK
  • Wireshark
  • Tektronix PRISM
  • Ansible
  • Windows, Linux and macOS
  • Jira/Vimbiz
  • Postman
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in information technology, engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Two years\xe2\x80\x99 hands-on experience in implementing, configuring and supporting telecommunications network devices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French are an important asset.
  • A collaborative approach: you thrive in a team-focused environment.
  • Strong analytical skills; innate ability to think about complex problems and design innovative solutions; understanding of how to dig into issues, remove roadblocks and present solutions both immediate and long-term.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies quickly, all while staying up to date with industry best practices.
  • Understanding of formal methodologies for project management and change management.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
