This is a hybrid role with the requirement to work in the office 2 days a week.

Your role

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Network Security Senior Analyst to join its Telecommunications team in Montreal.

Your primary focus will be on developing and operationalizing a regular, systematic process for upgrading the equipment in our national telecommunications infrastructure, with the goal of ensuring that network platforms (Fortinet, Arista, Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE, Cisco SDA, Juniper, etc.) are up to the latest generation of code and maintain the desired efficiency, security and functionality.

More generally, you will (or may) be required to:

  • Implement and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, VPNs and other related technology.
  • Conduct regular network security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor network traffic and security events to detect and respond to potential threats or incidents.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and maintain network security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Investigate and resolve network security incidents, including by performing root cause analysis and implementing countermeasures.
  • Keep up with the latest network security trends, threats and technology, and make recommendations for improving existing security controls.
  • Provide internal teams with advice and support on network security best practices.
  • Take part in incident response activities, including providing after-hours on-call rotation support.

Qualifications

What you bring:
  • Degree in telecommunications, networking, computer science, information technology or a related field
  • Relevant experience in network security or a similar role
  • Knowledge of network security principles, protocols and technology
  • Experience with network security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, VPNs and vulnerability scanners
  • Experience/familiarity with Fortinet firewalls and with creating firewall policies, managing units, etc.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS)
  • Proficiency with network routing and switching protocols
  • Knowledge of cloud security and virtualization technologies, an asset
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA Security), a desirable asset
  • Voice-over-IP experience, or hands-on coding experience, an asset
  • Knowledge of or interest in learning more about audio/video routing and TV/radio broadcast networks (SMPTE 2110).
  • Knowledge of SQL, API, Python, C#, VB, Ansible and NetBox, an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; innate ability to think about complex problems and design innovative solutions; understanding of how to dig into issues, remove the roadblocks and present solutions both immediate and long-term
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French with the ability to analyze and synthesize information, including documentation detailing technical specifications
  • Collaborative approach (you thrive in a team-focused environment)
  • Ability to nurture strong two-way relationships with peers, partners, clients, staff, senior managers and external technological vendors
  • Ability to adapt to new tools and technologies quickly, all while staying up to date with industry best practices
  • Willingness and ability to be on call 24-7 (including evenings, weekends and holidays) on a rotating basis
