Reporting to the Manager, Media Relations and Communications, the Senior Advisor, Internal Communications is responsible for delivering internal communications objectives and cross-functional engagement. This results-oriented, fast-acting and creative communications professional will apply understanding of internal communication best practices to the role. The Senior Advisor will also support the mandate of the broader Communications, Stakeholder Engagement and Community Relations team. You will contribute to our team by:
Developing, supporting and helping implement a high-quality, innovative and multi-channel delivery of a comprehensive corporate-wide internal communications strategy.
Providing day-to-day communications advice and counsel.
Drafting, preparing and publishing weekly internal newsletter and regular Teams posts, amongst other communications outputs.
Developing or assisting in the development of business unit and project communication plans.
Managing and developing intranet content for Communications and business areas in support of communication plans.
Creating engaging content for various platforms, including website, social media, newsletters, and marketing materials
Supporting and executing community engagement strategies that align with the organization\'s mission, values, goals, and enhancing and building our culture through integrating and expressing our north star, behaviours, wellness priorities and equity, diversity and inclusion focus through all communications outputs.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels
Supporting key team initiatives.
What you will bring to the role:Education:
Completed university degree or diploma in a related field (communications, journalism, marketing, business, graphic or web design, etc.).
Education equivalency may be considered.
Experience & Skills:
5+ years communications experience.
Formal, technical and creative writing experience an asset.
Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience in corporate communications, social media, website design and content management, data organization and management, and event planning.
Experience with updating and publishing digital content (both text and visuals) via platforms such as WordPress, Microsoft SharePoint, e-newsletter software, PowerPoint, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook an asset.
Experience with web design/layout and data management is an asset.
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills and demonstrated ability to work at a fast pace with agility and adaptability.
Creative, open minded, visionary.
Excellent collaboration, project management and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to interact with and provide advice to all levels of the organization including senior leaders.
Strong team player who works well with other team members and business partners.
Familiarity with various communications channels (print, online, audio, video, podcast, blog, etc.).
Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely.
Ability to deliver measurable results.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
Ability to quickly learn and utilize a variety of content development and asset management software and platforms.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet tight or unexpected deadlines.
Clear understanding of priorities and business issues.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
