:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto\'s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Senior Advisor, Strategic Communications collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute on key strategic objectives for the Vice President, Strategic Communications, including handling emerging issues and supporting special projects. There is a a strong emphasis on planning, development and delivery of products, issues management, reporting and tracking and acting as a key point of contact for stakeholders.What will I be doing?

  • Determine priorities, co-ordinate and manage ongoing special projects, and prepare reports
  • Develop and draft communications materials (e.g. emails, letters, correspondence, partner presentations and specified products)
  • Provide strategic communications counsel, direction, and perspective to help inform and guide senior decision-makers; liaise with communication business unit leds to create presentations, submissions, and correspondence (e.g. financial, policy and communication strategies)
  • Recommend and initiate creative approaches to positioning across external communications channels.
  • Build relationships with project team members, other Sr. Advisors across Metrolinx, CEO Office and Board Office to stay informed on project progress.
  • Be a relationship manager and essential contact to implement strategic communications with partners (e.g. political, public, media, government, and employees), anticipate and communicate communications risks and opportunities, and address issues as they arise.
  • Represent the communications team at all staff levels, and work with government agencies to provide advice and develop communications strategies.
  • Provide issues management advice, guidance and strategic direction to communications business unit leads.
  • Oversee in the planning of communications and public affairs activities; provide communications planning and promotional input and support to projects and events.
  • Support the development of communications strategies and monitor their performance and effectiveness; gather and compile information and analyzes project life cycles to monitor progress and performance.
  • Participate in the planning and production of annual reports and develop related content and materials.
  • Guide the development of communications and partner management plans; monitor the delivery of strategic partnerships.
  • Guide team assignments, work plans, budgets, and approvals.
  • Guide consultant teams to facilitate successful implementation of communication and partner projects.
  • Lead peers in project management for developing long and short-term communications projects.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in communications or a related discipline - or a combination of training deemed equivalent.
  • Six (6) years\' experience in communications, public affairs, journalism, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of strategic communications planning (e.g. government transportation and policy analysis)
  • Coordinate several complex projects to meet schedule and budget commitments.
  • Ability to translate technical information into easily understood communication products.
  • Proficient with desktop design tools and Microsoft Office.
