Senior Accounting Manager

Job Description


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Review and contribute to the planning and execution of projects, including management of engagements.
  • Contribute to business development including maintaining and/or developing internal and external relationships.
  • Recognize opportunities for tax and consulting strategies and discuss with other departments.
  • Assist clients with tax planning.
  • Organize accounting tasks from initiation to completion.
  • Train and develop the team and create a high performing department.
  • Review client deliverables prepared by staff.
  • Develop staff skillsets related to technical knowledge, communication skills, and project management.
  • Develop materials for and participate in the delivery of the presentations to clients and firm personnel.
  • Perform financial and systems analysis and apply analysis to complex accounting issues.
  • Review current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the accounting team, advise and implement new procedures for increased efficiency.
  • Support in development of new service offerings and marketing campaigns within the practice.
  • Opportunities may arise to serve clients and support local office teams around the country or internationally.
  • Conduct annual Performance Evaluations with direct reports.
  • Train and develop Managers, Senior Associates, Associates and Staff Accountants.
  • Review file timelines and draft invoices for billing.
  • Meet billable target hours.
  • Deliver KPI reports for division to Partners and executive team.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of Professionals within the Public Accounting industry.
  • Experience with T1, T2, T3 and other tax forms mandatory.
  • Strong technical background in Canadian Income Tax.
  • Strong computer literacy including CaseWare, CCH (Tax Prep), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and comprehension skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients.
