We are presently hiring a 12-Month contract Senior Accounting Analyst within our Expense Operations team reporting to the Team Lead, Expense Operations. The Senior Analyst will support the oversight of CPP Investments\xe2\x80\x99 centralized expense processing, which includes accurately and timely processing of expenses in a robust control environment and assisting in the monthly financial close process including accruals, reconciliations and reclass journal entries. The ideal candidate will have solid accounting operations experience, a continuous improvement mindset to create standardized and scalable processes with strong controls, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in a high performing team within a fast-paced environment.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:
  • Support the daily operations of the centralized global expense processing for CPP Investments in accordance with policies and procedures, which includes vendor invoices, employee expenses and general ledger entries.
  • Manage general ledger accounting functions, including variance analysis, preparation and/or review of journal entries (accruals, reclass and adjustments), and reconciliations of general ledger balances.
  • Responsible for end-to-end processing of invoices from creating new vendors in Oracle with the appropriate supporting documentation and verification through callback procedure, to processing the invoices with accurate general ledger coding, commodity taxes and in accordance with company policy.
  • Responsible for review of employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policy and provide first-line of support to users across the organization.
  • Support the annual audit inquiries and data collection processes.
  • Update risk control matrices and standard operating procedures as process and controls evolve or change
  • Promote the use and understanding of accounts payable policies, systems and procedures to the team and other stakeholders across the organization, including the development of training materials.
  • Proactively identi6fies opportunities for streamlining accounts payable processes and recommends solutions.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned or as the role evolves due to new processes, procedures, and implementation of technological tools.
  • Partner collaboratively with finance and other internal stakeholders to resolve cross-functional issues and gaps. Propose and implement solutions that reflect an understanding of business needs, organizational impact and governance and controls.
Qualifications

Position Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent, with a professional accounting designation preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a related role, preferably in Accounting
  • Solid interpersonal skills suited for a professional and thoughtful corporate environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and other Microsoft Office applications with an aptitude and interest in learning new software applications.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement with view of building scalable and standardized processes within a robust control environment.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills to independently assess factors and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to build and foster relationships with key business partners across the organization.
  • Exceptional time management and agility to work under sensitive time deadlines and urgent situations.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials general ledger is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high performing culture, open to and comfortable with evolving changes and new challenges.
