We work together to drive ambition for every future!PurposeContributes to the overall success of the Standby Letter of Credit/Guarantee (SBLC) unit of the Trade Services Centre, Toronto, ensuring goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team\xe2\x80\x99s business strategies and objectives further ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.What you\'ll do:

  • Review and prepare sample language for Standby Letter of Credit/Guarantee and ensure that the terms are compatible with the broad parameters of the ICC & Scotiabank\xe2\x80\x99s policies and practice
  • Processing SBLC related transactions in the T360 system including, but not limited to, issuance, Document examination, payment, cancellation, advising of SBLC instruments.
  • Identifying regulatory, compliance and documentary risks inherent in transactions for appropriate escalation.
  • Responding promptly and expertly to client, internal partner and correspondent bank inquiries, issues and complaints; developing workable solutions or escalating to Management as required.
  • Building effective work relationships across the team and with various business line and corporate function contact.
  • Act as back-up to other Trade Services Specialists as required.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Good understanding of AML and OFAC Compliance regulations.
What you\'ll bring:
  • Standby and Documentary Letter of credit technical experience, superior knowledge of Uniform
  • Customs and Practices for Documentary Credits (UCP 600), International Standby Practices (ISP98), Knowledge of processing Demand Guarantees and URDG 758 .
  • Conversant with trade related products, services and processes.
  • Working knowledge of Bank\xe2\x80\x99s business related products and services.
  • Working knowledge of the Bank\xe2\x80\x99s Anti Money Laundering and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to Trade Finance and Microsoft Office.
  • 3-6 years of practical trade finance processing experience.
  • Preferably a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS)
  • Bilingual French and/or Spanish is an asset.
Work Arrangement:This position is currently a Hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work two days a week in the office.
