Westguard is seeking a highly organized, professional, and people-focused
Security Site Supervisor
to lead day-to-day operations at a prestigious university in Nanaimo. This position oversees security staff across the Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses and provides seasonal support for special events.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, experienced in campus or public-facing security environments, and confident coordinating staff, managing incidents, and maintaining strong relationships with multiple departments across the university.
Responsibilities
Create, manage, and adjust staff schedules for the Nanaimo and Cowichan campuses.
Coordinate scheduling and staffing for seasonal events.
Support hiring processes, including conducting in-person interviews and vetting candidates.
Oversee on-site training for new staff and arrange required off-site training such as First Aid or Incident Command.
Oversee day-to-day security operations and ensure consistent performance of all security staff.
Review operational reports, incident reports, TrackTik entries, work orders, and first aid reports; provide coaching, feedback, and follow-up as needed.
Provide after-hours support to on-site staff and the NOSC when required.
Liaise with RCMP and other emergency services during incidents.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key university departments, including Security Management, Facilities Services, Conduct and Care, Student Services, Health and Safety, and Student Housing.
Ensure high-quality customer service and professional support to all members of the campus community.
Assist in coordinating and following up on emergency or safety-related incidents.
Provide first aid response when required (OFA Level 2).
Support patrol officers with incident management, communication, and operational needs.
Requirements
High School Diploma required, relevant post-secondary education an asset.
Minimum
3+ years of experience
in a Security Site Supervisor or similar leadership role.
Minimum
5+ years in the security industry
.
Valid
BC Security Worker License
.
OFA Level II
required.
ICS training (ICS 100 may be provided to the right candidate).
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-pressure situations.
Strong report writing
, documentation, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Advanced computer proficiency
required.
Knowledge of additional languages considered an asset in supporting campus diversity.
