We are currently seeking a dedicated and vigilant
Security Guard
to join our team. As a Security Guard, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our properties, employees, tenants and visitors. You will be responsible for monitoring and patrolling assigned areas, enforcing security protocols, and responding to incidents in a prompt and professional manner.
Your responsibilities will include:
Provide exceptional customer service and sustain effective relationships with staff, clients, and patrons;
Access control and CCTV monitoring;
De-escalate crisis situations, provide support, and liaise with emergency services including Police, Fire, and Paramedics;
Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers;
Complete Security Checks of the properties;
Complete Foot Patrols of the properties;
Respond to Emergencies such as Fire, Medical, Thefts etc;
Utilize two-way radios, cell phone and computer applications to communicate site activities;
As a last resort, employ use of force techniques and strategies in accordance with training and company policy;
Complete Investigations and make sure all reports are completed properly;
Maintain Security Logs such as the Occurrence, Incident, PPA, Emergency Contact, Lost & Found and Key Index;
Report all major incidents to the General Manager, Property Manager & Operations Manager;
Promote a work environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, and violence;
Enforce the safety and security policies and procedures of the facility.
Your qualifications include:
Minimum of 1 to 2 Years in a Security Role;
Previous experience working in commercial retail spaces is considered an asset;
Use of problem solving and analytical skills in day-to-day duties;
Remain calm and professional in emergency situations;
Able to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel;
Able to handle confidential information with a high amount of discretion;
Ability to work in a fast-paced and flexible environment while maintaining the utmost professionalism;
Able to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures;
Moderate physical activity, such as standing and walking for long periods of time;
Knowledge of the Protection of Property Act, Canadian Criminal Code & Provincial Statues;
Proficient Communication Skills (Written & Verbal);
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, and Excel);
Familiarity with surveillance equipment, access control, and fire alarm systems;
Attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills;
Valid Emergency or Standard First Aid/CPR certification;
Job involves working a variety of shifts, must be able to cover sick calls, vacation time etc;
Use of Force Certification is considered an asset.
