Position: Scrum Master/Agile Coach

Reports to: Enterprise Agile Coach

Position Term: Full Time Permanent

Primary Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Job Purpose

The Scrum Master/Agile Coach plays a key servant leadership role in the delivery of value that support business growth and innovation at World Vision Canada.

As a support for the Enterprise, this position leads one or more cross-functional Scrum / SAFe teams in delivering the highest possible business value. Embrace, promote, model, mentor and evolve Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, LEAN, and Agile principles throughout the entire Enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Scrum Team Leadership

  • Proactively plan and manage Sprints for your Scrum Team
  • Lead relevant Scrum / SAFe ceremonies including Grooming, Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Team Demos, Sprint Retrospectives
  • Proactively create and manage Scrum / SAFe Team artifacts including backlogs, Sprints, Epics, Business / Enabler Stories, Releases, PI Plan components, Retrospectives, and Sprint Reports
  • Play a critical role in SAFe program-level ceremonies including Portfolio Intake, Release Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Program Retrospectives.
Planning and Management of Business Value Delivery
  • Actively manage delivery of value through Stories throughout the cadence of Sprints and Product Increments. This includes team productivity, velocity, completion rate, and overall product quality.
  • Proactively enable and promote the Flow of work by working to remove impediments and timely aligning of cross-team dependencies (may include managing vendors, freelancers, and volunteers as well as working with non-agile teams).
  • Proactively collaborate with fellow Scrum Master(s), PI Release Manager(s), Portfolio Manager(s), Program manager(s), Project Manager(s), as well as external Partners / Vendors to deliver shared business value.
  • Appropriately escalate program-level and portfolio-level issues as well as opportunities.

  • Invest time to gain the invaluable understanding of WVC organizational strategic goals, priorities, and challenges as well as Partnership initiatives.
  • Collaboratively innovate and identify areas of improvements to achieve increased business value, decreased risks, staff engagement, organization effectiveness, and more;
  • Employ organizational adopted tools and best practices to facilitate process improvement efforts and contribute to the realization of the strategic goals.
  • Actively collaborate with other staff and teams to constantly improve and refine the solution delivery framework.
  • Champion, promote, and adopt innovation within day-to-day work, team activities, and the organization as a whole.
Qualifications Required:
  • University or college undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Current Scrum Master Certification 2+ Years of experience working in any of Scrum / Scaled Scrum / Scaled Agile Framework SAFe.
  • 5+ Years of experience in managing multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading or co-leading organizations through Agile adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability of effectively working in dynamic (constantly evolving) results-driven environments with competing stakeholder requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Demonstrated high level of personal ownership, collaborative teamwork, holistic value-centric perspective, work adaptability, and innovation.
  • Demonstrated history of continuous learning, relentless improvement, openness to new ideas, healthy attitude to failures, and personal drive to grow.
  • Demonstrated collaboration, organizational, interpersonal, communication, conflict management, problem solving, change management, attention to detail, decision making, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies and digital best practices.
Preferred / Beneficial
  • Current Scaled Agile Framework Certification.
  • 2+ Years of experience working in traditional project management frameworks such as Waterfall / PMI / SDLC / Prince.
