As an Agile Coach, you play a crucial role in fostering successful Agile adoption and implementation throughout the organization. Your responsibilities include coaching, mentoring, and guiding teams, and departments to embrace Agile methodologies and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and value delivery. This position requires extensive hands-on experience with Agile frameworks like Scrum or Kanban, along with scaled Agile practices. You must possess the ability to shift mindsets and behaviours towards a test and learn attitude, a bias for action, and a passion for innovation. Your role involves providing coaching, training, mentoring, and leadership to enable collaboration, development consistency, and value delivery across multiple teams and departments.

What Will You Do?

  • Serve as an Agile champion for Digital Enterprise and teams in Corporate, guiding them on their Agile journey.
  • Assist in establishing and supporting new Agile teams, helping them become self-organizing, self-managing, and highly functional.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to in-flight project teams, aiding them in their Agile transformation and facilitating effective planning, team dynamics, operations, and delivery.
  • Act as a change agent, advocating for Agile principles, continuous improvement, and value delivery throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to define clear objectives and key results (OKRs) to drive value delivery.
  • Facilitate an environment of continuous improvement and adoption of Agile/Scrum practices.
  • Coach teams on backlog prioritization and management, ensuring a healthy backlog that aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Promote the use of DevOps practices and tools to enhance software delivery.
  • Coordinate with other teams and support estimates for larger features and capabilities.
  • Deliver educational support on Agile principles, Scrum/Kanban practices, and additional Agile techniques to enhance the organization\'s execution and innovation.
  • Measure and track teams\' progress in Agile adoption through various methods like surveys, data analysis, interviews, etc.
What Do You Need to Succeed?
  • At least 3 years or more of experience as a Scrum Master, leading multiple teams in Agile practices.
  • At least 1 year of experience mentoring other Scrum Masters and practical coaching-in-training.
  • Extensive knowledge with Agile project management tools, such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and DevOps.
  • Proficiency in project management practices such as scope management, estimations, risk management, and change management.
  • Demonstrated test and learn attitude, bias for action, passion for innovation, and willingness to learn.
  • Strong facilitation skills with experience in mentoring, training, and teaching.
  • Effective influencing skills in both one-on-one and group scenarios, utilizing emotional intelligence and humility to motivate people.
  • Collaboration experience in cross-functional teams encompassing technology, design, business, and operations.
  • Understanding of the difference between consulting and coaching and the ability to apply each approach effectively.
  • Deep understanding of both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Capability to coach teams with both persistent and non-persistent members.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth as an Agile Coach, continuously improving skills and approaches.
  • Nice to Have: Agile certification(s) such as KMM, KCP, SAFe, PMI-ACP, PSM, CSM, CSPO, or any other relevant Agile certifications.
  • Experience in the finance industry or other regulated environments is preferred.
  • Experience with Corporate application environments such as HR, Finance, Corporate Real Estate, Legal, Actuarial would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Sun Life\'s Digital Enterprise Journey is advantageous.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
