Job Description


This role safeguards the Quality and Food Safety of Canadian Market products and ensures compliance to both Regulatory and Global Standards. This role also acts as a liaison with key External Manufacturers as well as key Market Unit programs.

What are we looking for?

  • University degree in a relevant Science (e.g. Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Quality Management and Food Safety Systems
  • Strong understanding of Global Food Safety Initiative schemes (e.g. SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000) or equivalent
  • Supply Chain, Inventory management and/or Food/Pharmaceutical manufacturing site experience
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Experience in Auditing \xe2\x80\x93 Lead Auditor Certification an asset
  • Solid microbiology background
  • Project management skills and the ability to execute
  • Strong Computer Literacy (MS Office, SAP or similar system)
  • Fluent Oral and Written English

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive product quality, cost reduction, process capability and consumer/customer complaint reductions.
  • Take a leadership role in the Mars Canada Internal Audit team and support 2nd and 3rd party Market Unit audits.
  • Understanding of business systems (e.g., SAP, ecommerce, WHS, SharePoint)
  • Support customer requests for information related to Q&FS.
  • Key Mars Canada contact for all primary co-packaging sites
  • Oversee the Internal Audit and Allergen Management and Microbial Verification programs.
  • Support the Segments by conducting market quality panels, training, and providing recommendations to improve brand and product quality.
  • Support activity management and new product introductions by leading qualifications at co-packers, conducting risk assessments, and providing support to External Manufacturers.
  • Maintain and support the implementation and compliance of Global Q&FS standards for the Canadian Market Unit
  • Investigate and rectify issues related to quality and food safety through the incident management program.
  • Ensure hold management of non-conforming product within the Canadian market.
  • Review and approve Concessions and Change Controls to assess impact on the Canadian Market Unit.
  • Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.
