The Sanitation Leadhand assists the supervisor in overseeing sanitation activities while actively participating in cleaning duties. This role serves as a bridge between management and staff, ensuring that sanitation tasks are completed efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Supervision & Coordination
Lead and support sanitation staff in completing assigned duties.
Supervise sanitation employees in their work and ensure tasks meet quality standards.
Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment and machinery to confirm readiness for cleaning.
Co-ordinate and inspect cleaning of lines at changeovers and downtime to prevent contamination.
Ensure all sanitation personnel follow safety procedures, properly handling equipment and chemicals.
Continuously make rounds to inspect cleanliness and direct staff to incomplete or delinquent tasks.
Supervise and provide instruction to temporary employees, ensuring they receive proper training in procedures and safety guidelines.
Sanitation Operations & Scheduling
Ensure sanitation work orders are completed as per the master cleaning schedule.
Survey facility grounds and premises to identify immediate sanitation needs and schedule appropriate labor.
Equipment & Inventory Management
Ensure sanitation equipment is properly maintained and cared for.
Conduct inventory checks on sanitation supplies and report necessary replenishments to the Sanitation Supervisor.
Report any issues preventing equipment from being cleaned and sanitized effectively.
Training & Support
Assist in training sanitation staff on cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
Provide guidance and mentorship to sanitation personnel to enhance efficiency and performance.
Requirements:
At least High school diploma
At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar capacity or role in a manufacturing or production environment.
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and Food Safety
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong knowledge of operating sanitation equipment
Strong knowledge of food safety standards

Ability to coordinate work activities and motivate a team
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and mentor staff
Effective problem-solving and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be comfortable working in a hot environment (Bakery floor)
Requires standing for extended periods and overseeing fast-paced production operations
Afternoon shift (Please note that flexibility is essential, as working hours may vary depending on the production schedule.)
