SALARY: $49,166 to $68,718 per year (Pay Band 3) (Based on 37.5 hours per week)

JOB PURPOSE:

This position will support the research activities of the Maritime SPOR Support Unit located at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University Degree with a focus on health sciences or human biology
• Experience in knowledge translation methodology
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge, skills and experience in preparing grant applications for research studies
• Previous experience working in a research environment
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and statistical software.
• Knowledge of ICH-GCP Guidelines, Health Canada Food and Drug Regulations, and Tri-Council Policy Statement.

• Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform the duties of the position.
• Good work record.
• Written and spoken competence in English is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participates in the planning, development and implementation of new patient-oriented research initiatives;
• Compiles and reports study metrics, tracks study budgets and coordinates study resource allocation;
• Liaises with research sponsors, funding agencies, Research Ethics Board (REB), and various departments within the hospital to ensure all necessary regulatory and logistical support is in place to carry out research studies;
• Prepares all regulatory and study-related documents for submission to REB;
• Participates in determining appropriate research methodology, sample size estimation, and logistical support for new research protocols;
• Extracts data from local and provincial data registries and performs basic statistical analysis and data interpretations;
• Conducts in-depth literature searches on various research topics and prepares comprehensive reviews;
• Prepares drafts of research abstracts, statistical charts, and posters for presentation at local and national conferences;
• Reviews grant criteria of funding agencies and prepares local and national grant submissions in support of research projects;
• Monitors study recruitment and subject tracking against protocol milestones and prepares summary reports;
• Designs data-collection worksheets for capturing study-specific data;
• Coordinates site visits for study participants and study sponsors.
