Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Description:

Reporting to the General Manager, the EH&S Manager will lead West Fraser Team Members in the continuous improvement of a world-class EH&S culture that will eliminate workplace injuries.

Responsibilities:

• As part of the Grande Prairie Leadership Team, you will lead the facility\xe2\x80\x99s EH&S programs.
• Educate and support all Team Members in the identification of workplace hazards and the development of pro-active measures to mitigate or eliminate risks.
• Ensure site\xe2\x80\x99s understanding and compliance of all legislated and West Fraser Standards.
• Coordinate investigation process for all EH&S incidents; including follow up action plans.
• Maintain and report Environmental and Safety statistics
• Coordinate formal audits and non-formal site inspections, reviewing reports & findings and overseeing the completion of all action items related to safety and environment.
• Facilitate the activities of the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
• Facilitate OHS&E training plan for all site Team Members; including orientation for new employees, ongoing training requirements & recertifications and support the development of updated training materials.
• Measure progress toward meeting our EH&S targets and objectives.
• Participate in health and wellness activities including liaise with WCB and provide guidance on return-to-work plans.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the General Manager.
• Some travel is required to visit other sites for training or auditing purposes.

Our ideal candidate would have:

• EH&S leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• CRSP designation (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) is preferred but not required.
• Environmental Management Certificate is preferred but not required.
• Proficient skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Access, Word, etc.) and comfortable learning new IT programs within the West Fraser system.
• Effective leadership skills including time management, project management, interpersonal skills, and integrity.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
