If you answered yes, our Chalk River location is looking for an Safety Analsyt to support all the Environmental Remediation Management operations and project from conceptual design, though operations and into decommissioning. Can you see yourself supporting the systematic identification of hazard for a facility/project and assesses the potential consequences to determine the risk? What will you be doing!

  • Prepare high quality technical document which receive a high level of scrutiny
  • Act as a technical reviewer for safety analysis documents
  • Follow the program and associated CNSC regulations in preparing the documentation
  • Safety analysis support to projects, operations and decommissioning activates across CNL sites
  • Provide guidance to Facility Authority/Projects with regards to safety and licencing requirements
  • Review technical drawings/documents with a focus on impact to safety
  • Prepare documentation to support projects/changes including planning, safety analysis and guidance
  • Ensure documents prepared are in compliance with the program
  • Support developing program documentation though document preparation, self-assessments, etc.
  • Be involved with REGDOC, CSA, IAEA, ICRP and other agency updates that involve safety analysis
  • Engage with projects/facilities to identify hazards
  • Lead hazard analysis meetings and document the outcomes
  • Dose consequence/Frequency estimation
  • Use various tools to estimate the potential doses from events to workers, on-site and public
  • Use various tools to estimate frequency of events to classify likelihood of occurrence
  • Model short term and long term releases from facilities
  • Verify other analysts calculations
What we are looking for:
  • At minimum, a Bachelors (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a university of recognized standing; or membership in an engineering or scientific professional organization authorized by statute to establish qualification for membership in that organization
  • Minimum 5 years of scientific work experience is required in order to be regarded as a specialist.
  • Preference for experience specifically related to safety analysis or in the nuclear field.
  • Fully developed knowledge of two or more of the following areas and a basic understanding of the remainder
  • Design engineering process
  • Technical writing and problem solving
  • Hazard assessment techniques including HAZOP, FMEA, What-If, etc.
  • Deterministic safety analysis methods
  • Experience with mathematics to support Radiation Dose calculation, airborne release modelling, ground release modelling, etc
  • Industry knowledge in regulatory framework governing Canadian nuclear industry, Safety requirements for nuclear facilities , Nuclear facility operations, Decommissioning, Radiological protection
Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States and/or the United Kingdom

Location:

CNL works with employees across our Canadian locations to enable a hybrid workforce where possible. Our Hybrid employees work with their manager to establish expectations for when they will be on site vs when they are working from home.
