We are looking for a professional, honest, and hard-working Safety Advisor who strives to be the best and shares our core values: Accountability, Communication and Teamwork. Under the direction of the Safety Manager, the Safety Advisor will assist with ensuring compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations in NS, on-site, across various job sites in the HRM for the Major Projects team.
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Safety Orientation and complete necessary documentation
  • Coordinate safety training identified for NS employees
  • Attend pre-job start-up meetings and facilitate safety requirements
  • Conduct rcs hazard assessments
  • Perform job site safety inspections
  • Provide administrative assistance with documentation on site, including but not limited to collecting hazard assessments, pre-use inspections and verifying training documentation for sub-contractors
  • Respond to incidents and complete and/or collect necessary paperwork
  • Complete incident investigations when necessary
  • Conduct and submit weekly site reports to H&S Manager
  • Implement corrective actions on site when needed
  • Conduct Toolbox Talks as requested
  • Inform H&S Manager of major safety violations on site or potential critical tasks

The ideal candidate is a team player, passionate about upholding safety standards while promoting positive and effective employee relations and understands that coaching and support are key. They possess strong organizational skills and have the capacity to multi-task under tight deadlines, maintaining detailed, accurate safety records. The individual will have at least two years previous experience in a similar role in commercial and / multi-level residential construction, which is further supported with an OHS qualification. In addition, they are well-versed using Microsoft Office applications.
This position will require regular travel within HRM, so a reliable vehicle and valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and insurance are required.
