Job Summary

The Safety Advisor supports the delivery of a Health and Safety business plan for the Fort Saskatchewan site. This position reports to the Director, Loss Prevention.

Accountabilities

  • Provide input and support implementation of the Safety business plan
  • Accountable for the development and development, implementation and continuous improvement of onsite safety systems and procedures
  • Produce safety statistics, KPIs, tracking/trending data collection, analysis and input into site and board reporting activities
  • Lead complex incident investigation where required and ensure appropriate regulatory reporting is completed
  • Advise, monitor, and support action plans as a result of safety audits and assessments.
  • Implement/Coordinate Shutdown activities as they pertain to Safety, Hygiene and Safety Tool Crib
  • Safety and performance initiatives for Contractor Management on site
Qualifications and Skills
  • Professional designation(s) in the area of safety (CRSP).
  • Minimum 5+ years related experience and/or training equivalent combination of education and experience in energy, minerals or chemical production industry.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with ISO & TSM knowledge and experience
  • Highly skilled/proficient in technical writing requiring minimal assistance
  • Experience with regulators, industry standards and other external stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of safety legislation and practices
  • Investigation training and experience along with knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements/standards
  • Organizational change and project management skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including public speaking and presentation skills
