Whitehorse is the capital and only city of Yukon, and the largest city in northern Canada. Because of the city\'s location in the Whitehorse valley and relative proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the climate is milder than comparable northern communities such as Yellowknife. At this latitude, winter days are short and summer days have up to about 19 hours of daylight.Bayshore HealthCare\xe2\x80\x99s Northern Nursing program has provided high-quality community health relief staffing services to Indigenous and Northern communities since 1997. Our Nurses experience exciting assignments in isolated, semi-isolated and remote areas of northern Canada. Work closely with diverse Indigenous communities (First Nations, Inuit and M\xc3\xa9tis) providing care to community members in Canada\xe2\x80\x99s remote Northern communities of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.This is an amazing opportunity with unlimited potential for professional and personal growth. What a unique way to experience an exciting diverse role as a nurse in all scopes of practice while enjoying an adventure at the same time!The work you will do:The Registered Community Health Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing primary health care services to the client population within the legislated scope of practice, regulatory body standards of practice, organizational policies and procedures and individual competencies. Assignment involves working in a Corrections Facility that operates similarly to a Community Health Centre with medical directives in the absence of a physician. Focus will be on acute issues requiring advanced assessment knowledge.Assignments will be four (4) week minimum with opportunity to extend as desiredWhy Bayshore?

QualificationsWho You Are:
  • Registered Nurse with ER and CHN experience, preferably with northern nursing experience in either territory
  • You have (4500) three (3) years of full-time experience in the past five (5) years as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department/Urgent Care setting and Community Health Nurse experience combined (total 3 years) AND/OR Combination of Community Health Nurse experience
  • Nursing registration in Yukon active and in good standing is required
  • Nurses will be required to have completed necessary certifications prior to travel and complete specific certifications upon arrival to assignment
  • Physical Requirements: Staff will have to be physically able to complete walking 3-4 flights of stairs carrying an emergency medical bag (20 \xe2\x80\x93 25 lbs) in case of emergency. Masks wearing requirements are in place and mandatory at the facility
