Position SummaryThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a record of or potential for scholarly research and teaching excellence commensurate with the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will be required to teach core courses in the department as well as courses from the candidate\'s specialty. The department has teaching needs in Indigenous justice, youth justice, crime analysis, victimology, corrections, justice policy, ethics, and research methods. Experience working with Indigenous and other diverse populations is also desirable.The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda, should have some experience pursuing grants and funding from internal and external sources (e.g., CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC), and develop a record of effective student supervision and mentorship. As a member of the Department of Justice Studies, the successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in department, faculty, and university level service consistent with their appointed rank.Overview of the program: The Department of Justice Studies is home to two distinct, but related programs - a Bachelor of Human Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Police Studies. Our department has approximately 350 undergraduate majors - 230 Human Justice Majors and 120 Police Studies majors. Faculty in the department draw from pluralistic approaches grounded in the field of criminology and crossing over from various disciplines.
