This position is to prosecute gender-based violence, sexual offences, matters before the Domestic Violence Court, other serious matters, lead in the development of additional Therapeutic Court and training on gender-based violence.


Duties will include but are not limited to:




Attend in all Courts in the province to prosecute gender-based violence, sexual offences and matters before the Domestic Violence Court; Trial preparation work to include review of disclosed materials, viewing videos, meeting with witnesses, negotiations with defense counsel, preparing all written submission (factums, memorandums, submissions on sentence, notices, orders, etc.), conducting research; Responding to and answering inquiries from other crown attorneys, police officers, government departments and agencies and the general public; Appearing at trials of other matters and show cause hearings as time permits;

Minimum Qualifications:




Graduation from a recognized law school and membership in the Law Society of Prince Edward Island is required; Must have at least l0 years at the bar, and 5 years of Crown Attorney experience; Must have the ability to effectively communicate with vulnerable and young witnesses; Must have the legal and neurological knowledge to effectively obtain evidence from every type of witness regardless of age, socio-economic status, and maturity; Must be familiar with the structure and operation of the Criminal Code Review Board of Prince Edward Island; Must have extensive criminal courtroom experience, excellent research skills, and the ability to advocate well in both written and oral form.
