Job Summary
The Occupational Health & Safety & Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in promoting a safe, healthy, and engaging workplace at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation and best practices (approximately 75% of the role) while also providing support across a range of Human Resources (HR) functions (approximately 25% of the role). Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, Mountain Division, and working collaboratively with HR and operational managers, this role helps to safeguard employee well-being while enhancing the overall employee experience.
Essential Job Functions
Occupational Health & Safety (75%)
Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of hazard and risk assessments, safe work procedures, written reports, and recommendations in compliance with applicable OHS Acts and Regulations.
Coordinate and facilitate workplace safety training programs, including:
New and young worker health and safety orientations.
Supervisor and Manager Due Diligence training.
Joint Occupational H&S Committee (JOHSC) training.
Ensure delivery of job-specific OHS education and training to workers, ensuring compliance with legislation.
Assist with workplace incident investigations, including corrective actions and prevention strategies, in alignment with OHS requirements.
Manage workplace injuries, including WorkSafeBC claims and return-to-work programs.
Ensure documentation and tracking of all safety program elements, including training and compliance records.
Maintain COR certification through annual audits, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Help ensure JOHSC operations including routine inspections, investigations, trend analysis, mitigation strategies, and reporting are maintained.
Conduct annual first aid assessments and ensure compliance, training, and equipment supply.
Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of emergency preparedness procedures; oversee drills, exercises, and staff training.
Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory and contractor safety compliance.
Support chemical management systems and toolbox talks.
Other related OHS duties as required.
Human Resources (25%)
Support the full range of HR functions including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and recognition.
Support HR-led training and development initiatives including but not limited to new hire orientations and supervisor training.
Assist with annual HR activities, calendars, and events.
Lead the inventory management, distribution and collection of staff uniform pieces seasonally.
Assist with recruitment activities, including posting roles, screening, and supporting hiring managers.
Facilitate efficient new hire onboarding and orientation, coordinating with cross-functional departments.
Provide guidance and respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, practices, and procedures.
Participate in initiatives to improve HR efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
Other HR duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Abilities
Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Human Resources, or a suitable combination of education and experience.
3-5 years of recent and related experience in OHS, with exposure to HR functions preferred.
Solid understanding of OHS legislation, regulations, and programs (WorkSafeBC experience an asset).
Basic knowledge of HR practices, employment standards, and related legislation.
Previous experience with HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce or equivalent) is an asset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to develop training materials, deliver presentations, and facilitate learning.
Strong service orientation with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
