Job Responsibilities (may include but are not limited to):





Providing home and community goal-based respite supports for children and youth in Brantford, (ages 0 - 18) identified with mental health needs, and their families.

Meets with clients at home or in the community to assess, provide counseling and mental health
support to overcome emotional, behavioral and social difficulties.


To provide support within our Elementary Day Treatment Program as needed.

Support respite groups as needed.

To implement individualized goal-focused respite supports in collaboration with clinician and/or managers.

Availability required during daytime, evenings and or weekends based on client need and availability.

Implement client focused activities, responsive to the needs of clients. May be on an individual basis or within a group setting like PD day respite groups

Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of job (written/verbal/implied).

Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within an inter-disciplinary team.

Demonstrate confidence, self-direction and sound judgement in the role.

Qualifications:





Valid (G) driver's license and daily use of a reliable vehicle with the ability to transport clients is a requirement for this role.

Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Autism Behavioural Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience Minimum 2 years experience in children's mental health and working with families A demonstrated ability to work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective with clients and families Sound knowledge and/or experience in the mental health field and an ability to manage the emotional and behavioural needs of clients Strong ability to communicate concise, accurate information in verbal and written reporting Current certification in first aid and CPR NVCI and ASIST certification an asset Knowledge of DBT, CBT and Applied Behavior Analysis an asset Current police check, including vulnerable screening Strong organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills Computer skills French as second language is an asset but not a requirement



Work Schedule:


Hours are as follows:Monday 2:45pm - 7pm Wednesday 2:45pm - 7pm

Friday 2:45pm - 7pm Saturday 12pm-5pm

The hours are on an ongoing basis (subject to change based on client's needs and availability)
Bonus: You can also work additional hours to support the respite clients, and our clients also have needs for respite services on stat holidays, summer break, March break, winter break and PD Days throughout the school year.
