Based in the Child, Youth and Emerging Adult Program, the donor funded Cundill Centre is a vibrant clinical research centre dedicated to understanding and addressing child and youth depression. The Cundill Centre is developing best practices for the screening, prevention and treatment of child and youth depression, revolutionizing research, care and knowledge exchange in the field by addressing key evidence gaps. To achieve this goal, the Centre involves a large network of national and international scientists, clinicians and experts working in collaboration with youth, families and key stakeholders. Position Description:

The Cundill Centre is seeking a full-time, Research Manager to support new and on-going research, implementation science and knowledge translation activities. This role will report to the Director, Cundill Centre and the Director Clinical Research and Medical Affairs. The manager will oversee all Cundill Centre operations, including:

  • Collaborating with Centre Directors, study investigators and stakeholders, including readiness assessments for implementing new studies and knowledge translation activities and ensuring alignment of research and knowledge translation activities and operations
  • Managing all aspects of human resources including recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of Centre staff and ensuring compliance of research personnel with CAMH institutional and research policies, procedures and regulations
  • Supporting the onboarding, training and supervision of research trainees
  • Providing fiscal management and support the reporting obligations associated with the Centre and external grants, including budget forecasting, monitoring budget and preparing financial reports
  • Negotiating and establishing contractual agreements
  • Monitoring key performance indicators and annual/biannual evaluation reporting
  • Co-ordinating and facilitating current and new research projects
  • Assisting in writing new grants and protocols
  • Adhering to and meeting REB and regulatory requirements and supporting quality and safety initiatives
  • Overseeing and managing all aspects of single-site and multi-site trials, and implementation science and knowledge translation initiatives, including supporting participant recruitment, enrollment, adherence to study protocols and development of contracts/agreements, invoicing, and stakeholder engagement
  • Supporting the development of high quality knowledge translation and communications content and products and for a wide variety of communication channels.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of knowledge exchange events such as such as conferences, workshops and special events
  • Supporting coordination of regular meetings and infrastructure to ensure deliverables are met

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a health sciences field (e.g. psychology, neuroscience, Health Administration, Health Promotion, Public Health) and at least three (3) years of research operations experience.
  • You will possess a good understanding of the Canadian and U.S. grant funding landscape, and experience in managing multi-site studies.
  • Specific experience in clinical trials is an asset.
  • Previous research experience in the area of child and youth mental health is an asset.
  • Familiarity with the mental health and addictions field and evidence of an understanding of system level issues within Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s mental health and addiction system, social determinants of health and the principles of health equity and how they apply in the context of creating evidence and knowledge exchange is an asset.
  • Thorough understanding of principles and practices of engagement, co-development, coaching and system change is required in addition to experience with youth and family engagement, including advisory and committee work.
  • Understanding knowledge exchange strategies and experience with a range of knowledge translation methods (e.g. communities of practice, newsletters, web and mobile applications, online training) including experience working within an implementation science framework or other evidence informed implementation or quality improvement framework is desired; experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders is required.
  • Supporting knowledge exchange activities, such as conferences and webinars (virtual and in-person), is an asset.
  • The candidate will have demonstrated experience in hospital/grant accounting and reporting as well as proven analytical, organizational, conceptual, and decision making skills in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Experience managing staff is required and management in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • The candidate will possess superior leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Candidates will be proficient in the following software applications: Access, Excel, RedCap, or other database software.
  • The candidate will possess the ability to work with individuals of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
  • The successful candidate will have sound knowledge of inclusive environments and will support and implement anti-oppressive and anti-racist best practices in the workplace and with research participant youth and families. Understanding of and appreciation of systemic and personal privilege related to diversity, with ability to work with stakeholders of diverse identities and ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds is required.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is NOT part of any Bargaining Unit.
