Job Description


The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), is seeking one full time, contract (12 months) Research Coordinator. The Research Coordinator will work collaboratively as part of a team of researchers of the Ontario Canadian Research Initiative in Substance Misuse (CRISM) Node Team. As one of the five Nodes across Canada, the Ontario CRISM Node conducts evidence-based research to improve interventions and systems for people who use substances and focuses on research on prevention and treatment interventions for substance misuse (primarily illicit drugs and non-medical use of pharmaceutical drugs), and knowledge translation of related research and evidence. The Research Coordinator will support a longer-term evaluation, which is evaluating British Columbia\xe2\x80\x99s new policy on the decriminalization of illicit substances for personal possession. To facilitate this project, the research coordinator will be responsible for supporting research activities of sub-projects, organizing and managing meetings among stakeholder and working groups, and working with the research team to develop and implement knowledge exchange activities. Specifically, the research coordinator will be required to:

  • Directly report to the Decriminalization Evaluation Manager and OCRINT Node Manager
  • Support OCRINT in coordinating subprojects within the overarching evaluation project
  • Perform day-to-day administrative duties and research activities across research projects and groups
  • Conduct research regarding the decriminalization of illicit substances (e.g., literature searches, reviews, etc.)
  • Engage in knowledge translation activities (e.g., creating presentations, infographics, etc.)
  • Engage in collaboration between researchers, policy makers, service providers, and those with lived experience
  • Organize and participate in conference calls between stakeholders and research working groups
  • Conduct qualitative interviews and support analyses for sub-projects
  • Conduct analysis and results writing for related publications and reports
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in public health policy, drug policy, criminology, addiction-related fields, or other related/relevant disciplines, with two (2) years of research related experience, ideally experience with substance use. Knowledge related to addictions, drug policy, and decriminalization of illicit drugs is considered an asset, as well as experience interacting with individuals in academic, research, and community health service settings. The successful candidate will have demonstrated research and project coordination skills, particularly as it relates to qualitative research and interviewing, as well as writing and publishing academic manuscripts and reports. Must have experience with EndNote or similar reference management tool. Knowledge of qualitative software tool such as NVivo is an asset. Candidate must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. This position requires the individual to work independently as well as within a team setting.

Salary Range: $33.59 - $45.31 per hour
